@lily: my school ends June 22. i think if i get accepted I’ll just work it out with teachers because we usually have finals last week of school.

well, all my essays are done and so.
i just need my guidiance counselor… which should be easy
and i need my bio teacher to know about it
i waited cause i was scared…
anyway…

nil: the due date is in 9 days. Are you serious?? I asked my teachers three weeks ago, and even that seemed a little late.

Does it want your weighted GPA or unweighted on the app?

i think they want unweighted

should I share application with SSP and WTP if I applied to both already?

I took the SAT for the first time in January. Apparently, I’ll be getting the scores online on Feb 11. If I were to just print out the score report online will that be acceptable for my application?

I’m worried because if I change my selection to a mailed score report I might get the results much later and I’m sure that it would be better to have everything on time. I’ve also designated MIT as one of the schools that will receive my scores if that makes any difference.

Hi, i’m new here and also stressing about this program but i was wondering something. For my online application I have my rank as 4/137 and a 4.12 GPA but unfortunately by the end of the semester my history grade dropped from an A to an A- (stupid IB midterm) and apparently my rank and gpa changed (for the worse and I’m not sure about another class which i think my grade droppd to). the thing is i didnt know it before and i already submitted my online application but my guidance counselor said she changed it in her letter and my transcript changed too. Will the MITES people be mad that it looked like I tried to give myself an edge by saying I have a higher GPA/rank?

@arsenalcrazy
I don’t think they will mind that much considering you sent in your app before you knew, so don’t worry about it.

@NiteStriker
I took the January test as well, but it was my second time. If you selected scores to be mailed, they will arrive too late, so just print out the online report. That’s what I am going to do and I’m sure it will be fine. Also, the mites program and mit undergraduate admissions are different, so electing to send your scores to mit will not make a difference for mites.

@Quantifier

Thanks for replying. I guess I’ll just print it out online as you said. I only have one more essay to write!! :)

hey guys what do you think of my stats
3.4 unweighted gpa 4.2 weighted
my psat scores aren’t so great, they’re from 10th grade
math:52 reading:56 writing:45
I’m taking pre-caculus honors, chemistry honors, ap psych, ap american history, engineering tech II, computer art, guitar II, and english III honors, I’m also taking enc 1101 after school for high school and college credit and I’m taking an sat/act prep class.
I’m a hispanic with a pretty low income
I’m in a math club and a school rock band
so do you think I can get in with some good essays and recommendations

@creyes: I think everyone has a chance. =D the psat scores seem kind of low, but I wouldn’t know, I’m applying this year myself. Did you take the psat junior year?

There is wayy too much snow in VA and I don’t know how to get my reccs back from my teachers. This is just just great… I actually don’t want a snow day for that reason and we’re supposed to get more snow Tuesday/Wednesday. School is already cancelled for Monday.
If I end up not having school this week or if my teachers are out or something, do you think they would let me send them in later?

Hey, I’m having the same issue here. Which part of VA are you from? I’m in Northern VA.

I didn’t take it my junior year unfortunately that was before I found out about the program

@NiteStriker

Northern VA as well. That was one… big storm. I didn’t except 30+ inches at all.
Snowmageddon.

So yeah, I have no clue how I’m going to get the recs if there is no school this whole week.
Do you go to FCPS schools?

@creyes: Oh, that’s unfortunate. You should try though because you never know. I don’t have high scores or anything, but I’m gonna try… test my luck =p

First of all,

Hey Miguel, Nicole, and Kevin! I love you guys!

Well I had a 3.96/4.0 GPA, PSAT(rather not mention them), had a 1250/1600 on SAT, four or five on all AP exams, a crap load of extracurricular activities and leadership roles, etc. I honestly almost didn’t apply because I thought I would never get in. There was one student who participated last summer in MITES who scored a 1560 his first time on the SAT out of 1600. However, you should apply because you never know what will happen. I even got into MIT this year. So go for it because you may be surprised of the outcome. Well if you have any questions jsut post them on this forum.

Robert, MITES 09’ and MIT 14’(have still not accepted admissions to attend)

All MITES 09’ Family please post your name so I know how many are a part of this forum:)

From Florida it varies. Some years they have nearly 10 students who are accepted and there are other years that they only have 5! Last year there was a total of 6, but one did not accept to attend MITES.

Yes, I’m in Fairfax County. Can’t believe they just cancelled school for Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m not very certain that I’ll be able to mail everything by friday :(

hey guys for the psat score. should i just take a copy of both sides of the bi-fold thing that the scores came in. or should i just take a copy of the side that has individual scores and total score.
