MITES 2010 Information & Discussion

@jbrown93 ■■■■■.!! are you serious?! we had some of those tooo! lol. i guess it was a common thing state wide lol.
the 2nd story of TAKS was sooooooooooo boring, && confusing.

@Robert
You didn’t make it to isef? aw, that’s okay. states are still amazing =) you still have senior year.

@hpaero
Still no!!! =O ahh! haha, well i’m not freaking out that much but it’s starting to look bad! I wonder what’s taking them so long. I now have a fear that I didn’t like send in the online application or something…

@hpaero1 I know I still have next year. But it would look better if the universities saw it before I applied.

@Robert
oh yeah, that’s true.

@arsenalcrazy
hmm, maybe you should e-mail or call them? after a few more days

@Robert18…lol my bro did science fair every year, got to state every year…but never went to isef until senior year. he was accepted everywhere he applied except MIT not having isef on his application (he won best in show at state as opposed to at regional)…but then once he won 3rd at isef…he was accepted to MIT (he had applied early and gotten deferred).

@TQSMNTASP
Yeah that’s how my brother got accepted into MIT they loved the “isef” on his application, I’ve gone to state every year and I HOPE I get isef next year and hopefully get into MIT.

@Robert18…yeah ISEF probably helps alot on the MIT application…too bad i haven’t done science fair since 8th grade lol.

@TQSMNTASP do you think you’ll get accepted without it?

I’m not sure…my SAT scores are much higher than my brother’s and I have more EC’s I think…but MIT isn’t my first choice school anyways, I’m not as much a science guy, I like all subjects.

Well I applied, but I won’t be going if I get in, since I’m going to RSI! Did anyone else apply to RSI?

I figure I should call MITES or something, so they don’t have to go through my app, and give a marginally better chance to everyone else.

@TQSMNTASP ohh i see well thats good, i have more EC’s than my brother also, i’m prolly going to have a higher ACT than him, but he did a lot better in AP exams than me. well i’ve only taken one.

@Palaoa you should call! haha. pleasee! :slight_smile: lol.

@Palaoa Definately call MITES! haha, every little bit helps. I wish I would have applied to RSI. Congrats on being accepted!

Ugh! don’t go to RSI!! Go to MITES!!! MITES is so much better!!!

What’s RSI?

Another program like mites but not for minorities and much more competitive

@Robert
i qualified for state this year… i really hope i go to isef too, but if i dont there is always senior year…but still… i want to go to san jose =]. but i was pretty proud of my sel, my last science fair project was in 7th grade

RSI isn’t like MITES… Isn’t it a completely research based program? But yeah, it is super competitive.

i think so.

@ambaturkey11 I doubt I’m going to make it to ISEF from state it’s extremely hard. Texas is so competitve! Lol. You didn’t make it to ISEF during regionals? I was one place away. Well points away.
