If I haven’t done science fair and research, do I stand a chance?

I did do governor school for science

If I haven’t done science fair and research, do I stand a chance?

I did do governor school for science

I’m sure you do, Sadahila.

@sadahila I’m sure if you have some experiece of lab or science they’ll consider your application :)

If anybody interested, I only know of one person as of today, Pi Day, who was rejected from MIT that was in MITES '09. Not saying everyone else was accepted, they just didn’t post it on fb if they were rejected.
Btw, I was accepted about an hour ago. :D

Awesome Chris, now I really want an acceptance into Mites.

chris, congrats!!!

Wow Chris congrats!

I applied to MITES 2010, not very hopeful about getting in. I have unweighted gpa 3.9. psat 180 and a bunch of ecs. I’m already taking calculus so I’d love to learn multivariable calculus if I get in. And yeah, I am Asian, but I think by nationality is underrepresented in MIT.

I turned in my application a few days past the deadline because we had horrible snow storms so I couldn’t get my recommendations.

I’d love to spend the summer taking these awesome courses, but I have such a crappy stat! the only unique thing about me is I immigrated from a third-world country about a year ago. does that increase my chances of getting in?

Congrats chrisakelly!

A classmate from my math class got in too. That’s 2 total this year at my school that I know of. First time in 8 years since anyone has gotten accepted to MIT from my school.

We have had only one person from my school who has gotten accepted to MIT, but then again our school opened 8 years ago lol.

Oh. That’s new. =) Was it your brother?
My school has been around since the mid 1950s.

@hpaero1 yeah it was my brother lol. And I recently found out this year we have one finalist for the gates scholarship lol. No one from my school applied to MIT this year though.

^ Oh. on average, about 8 people apply from my school each year. What’s the gates scholarship?

@hpaero1 omgsh you don’t know the gates millenium?.. Lol. It’s a scholarship if you get it it pays fully for your education. It’s funded by bill gates lol.
8?! Wow. That’s a lot.

^ Ohh… I thought it was related to Bill Gates. =p
That’s pretty cool.

Yep, 8. No one got in for 8 years until this year. Eight years ago a family friend’s son got in but he went to Georgia tech instead because they gave him a full ride.

We have a month left until decisions…I forgot about it.

@hpaero1
yeahh its cool haha. ima apply to it haha.

ohh i seee, wow, thats amazing lol. so someone from your school got in this year?! lol. wowow haha. did you hear that someone from MITES 09’ got turned down… to MIT;

ahh i know!! its a month after pi day haha. april 14.

i want to be hispanic now HAHA.

@truffliepuff
why?!

@Robert18 so she can get into mites and any college she wants.

@lexluthor
but I’m Hispanic…

@Robert
hmmm, i might look into it.=D

actually 2 people did (that i know of) one early and one regular
yeah i did see that somewhere… don’t remember where, but I’m sure they got into other great schools.

I thought it was April 16. we didn’t eat pie in math class this year =p we’re rushing to finish in time for APs.

@lexluthor
Just being hispanic doesn’t guarantee an acceptance into any college… unless that was sarcasm.
