Not quite GAC since we don’t know exactly how many boys or girls applied since you would only be competing for a boys spot or a girls spot.

MITES’10 :3

Stats: 205 PSAT, 3.96 / 6.5 GPA, AP Scholar with Distinction, and well, nothing terribly remarkable, to be honest.

I was expecting a notification sometime this week, so I wouldn’t give up hope if you haven’t received anything.

Good luck, you guys! :D

^
Congrats! =) What state are you in?

2011VAMom said the package was via USPS regular delivery. Past years, it was by express. Btw, congrats to your daughter 2011VAMom!

@hpaero1
paledot is from Miami as well. Good friend of mine :)

@guezmike
Oh, alright. Thanks
Congrats to you both. That must be nice that you two are already friends. =)

Thanks hpaero1-

She came home today so she just found out about 2 hours ago about her acceptance. She is 50% excited & 50% scared to death.

She applied for an internship with SEAP for this summer, and she did not get it. We thought she would get that & she was really disappointed. I think she is shocked she got a spot in the MITES program. It seems so much more competitive.

Yes, the envelope came via regular mail. The letter is dated April 8th and the postmark is April 8th as well, $1.22 postage.

Hope to see more celebrating on here tomorrow! Good luck everyone.

2011VAMom,

I’ve never heard about SEAP. I just searched it and it looks like a great program. I’m sorry that your daughter was not admitted to that, but MITES is more competitive and seems to offer more. Still, it’s something to be really proud of! =) Someone earlier said there was about 1200 applicants this year and 40 girls/40 boys get accepted.

I’m still hoping just a little bit, but I do not think I will get an acceptance. I live in VA also and on average about 2 people get accepted each year (at least that was what it was for 2008 according to the MITES website).

i’m in GA and i havent gotten anything yet… and Florida has…
i am sooo nervous. i’ve been wanting to apply for this prgram since 8th grade =
congrats to all who made it!

^
Hopefully, it’ll come within the next week! =)
In past years, some people who were accepted got their letters almost a week after the first sign of acceptance. Also, since it’s regular mail this year, it can take from 2 days to a week (maybe more…).

omg… i feel like i’m about to cry lol
yeah hopefully… i just really want this (like all of us do)…
i wont be home tomorrow so i won’t have a clue…
i wonder if we could call and find out our admission status
do you know if there is a waiting list?

^
True =) everyone wants it

I don’t know if you can call. I guess you can.

Last year, i think there was a small waiting list and then there were these things called fly-ins. I don’t know if that’s happening this year.

ohh yeah…they did have those fly-ins…that would ease my pain…but i want the program…it would be awesome if they sent something that told us WHY they didnt pick us not just that there were sooo many qualified candidates and that it was super competitive.

haha I think everyone who applied wants the program. =D I can’t believe about 1200 people applied! That’s true, maybe you can ask afterwards (like e-mail or phone) IF you don’t get in. I heard that they don’t accept overqualified candidates either. I don’t know if that’s true.

1200 people is ridiculous!!! why couldnt like 1000 of them find somewhere else to go! lol
i bet 640 of the people applied for funzees lol

Even though I know mail isn’t delivered on Sundays I still checked. I promised myself I wouldn’t become emotionally attached to the idea of attending Mites but I did anyways.

don’t feel bad. i checked twice on Saturday and today… and i’ll have my mom check tomorrow. I attached myself too… i couldn’t help it! either way acceptance or rejection i’ll cry lol
but if i don’t get in i’ll go to CMU this summer

I am Chinese, so I basically don’t have a chance.

I am kinda relaxed towards this, since I am prepared for that rejection letter.

Hpaero1 - where in VA are you located?

@ambaturkey
hahaha, because it’s such a great program!
I still think everyone wants to get in.

@somead896
haha, I was contemplating whether or not to check today even though I know the mail doesn’t come lol.

I just want to know whether I got in or not. A rejection would be disappointing, but at least I wouldn’t have to wait anymore lol

EDIT:

2011VAMom,

I’m in northern VA.

@sadahila: didn’t you get accepted to a program in Hong Kong?? if you did that’s awesome, traveling abroad sounds better than staying in the US!
@hpaero1: i know it just makes me feel better =] hey, i think they should have two 5 week sessions late may to late june and late june to early agust… or whatever will make 5 weeks each =]
