MITES 2013 Discussion

run1116, I like chess a lot, although I can rarely ever find someone else to play it with, and consequently, I don’t play as much as I’d like too (or should for that matter @_@) Maybe we can all play later? Also, you’ve just succeeded in making everything I do look like garbage in comparison to you  (factual joke)

Nashia1505, It’s a fun show, but I rarely turn on the TV myself. It’s odd, but I’ll watch something if someone else is watching it, but I almost never go to watch a tv show because I feel like watching TV.

Rivstein, make a blog. Now.

Three people here, four with me, say they like chess. I can’t find anyone to play it with at my school. I play online often, a few games a day at least, usually. Anyone want to play? If you want to play me, you can sign up at chess.com, and then I will give you my username.

@Nashia I love the Big Bang Theory :D

I usually catch up with that and some other shows on weekends.

Also, is anyone here interested in the military?

I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.

run1116, I guess I’ll take you up on that offer once Saturday is finished :stuck_out_tongue: You’ll probably win, but it’s always fun to play

@MobiusUno Exactly! My friends always ask me about the latest tv shows. I’m just really not a tv person. The main reason why I don’t watch tv is because of the time factor. The other reason is because every time I watch tv, I feel like I am wasting my life in some way. I just feel like I could be doing something more worthwhile.

I sometimes wish we could all attend the same school. I find it a little weird that we have so much in common with one another. But that’s what makes it even better.

As the days pass and I keep returning to this post, the more I anticipate a response. I don’t know if talking to you guys is helping or hurting me. If I don’t get in, then I will have been talking with some really awesome people that I won’t have the chance to meet.

@Leviticus You sir, have been promoted to best person ever. lol

That show is hilarious, but then again, it doesn’t take that much to make me laugh.

Also, my brother wanted to join the military, but he cannot due to the fact he as asthma. I personally, am not interested. To each his own.

Alright Mobius, make an account and tell me when you are ready to play. If anyone else wants to, go make an account on chess.com and play me! My username is nsguy1350.

@Nashia, I agree, I feel the same way. What if I don’t get in? Then I will never get to meet most of you guys! I hope we all get in, but of course, that is not the case. The good thing is that even though not all of us will get in, there will be equally awesome people out there who we’ll get to meet if we end up attending MITES.

The Bright side: many people who we’ve talked to on this thread will get in.
The Dark side: many people who we’ve talked to on this thread will not get in.
The Brightest side: everyone here will go on to live happy, successful lives, regardless of whether we attend MITES or not.

Lol, so I’m not the only person who’s not a fan of TV. To be honest, I admit is spend a little bit too much time on computers, but I never really feel like the time is wasted. TV on the other hand, as entertaining as it is, i feel like a couch potato, sitting there staring at a screen. At least with a computer, I’m interacting with the hardware/software and doing something :\ Just my own opinion.

Leviticus, Well, I admit I did have an interest in joining the air force for a few years, but in recent years, it’s been on the back burner of my mind.

Oh, another thing about me, I use a lot of odd catch phrases…so bear with me @_@

@Run Touche.

I know some of you are not religious, but you’re going to have to close your eyes and ears. I’m not that religious, but I absolutely believe in God, without a doubt. Anyways… I promised Him that if I get into MITES then I’ll give up bread, pop, and juice for a year.

Basically, I don’t think I have ever wanted anything so badly. Also, I wanted to bring up the point: We ask for things, but never really do things for those who are the main ones helping us. I mean, you can apply this to your parents. They give you so much, but what do you do for them? It’s usually nothing compared to what they do for you. Idk. I’m sure you’re all good kids, but it’s just something to think about.

@MobiusUno Yeah. Half of my life is spent on the computer as well. (More than I’d like to admit.) When I’m on the computer I may not feel like I am wasting time, but I sometimes am. Now that I think of it, I don’t know what I’d do if it were not for computers… Oh yeah, probably trying to invent them.

I’m up for the chess, just not today, I’m playing LoL with an old friend of mine XD.

Military? I wanted to joing the Airforce at some point, but since I like inventing and designing stuff, I wouldn’t want it to be used for military purposes.

Can I get a Hell Yeah? Or Heaven Yeah, or anything in between? :-D

@Junior prom: I’m going to it. My friends convinced me literally last minute. I have a week to pick out my dress and stuff, so that should be fun. People at my school are procrastinators. They pay dues last and only recently began doing the “promposals” for seniors. FOR GUYS, w/e: Do you think you’ll have a big prom-posal for someone next year? Good friends count and are fun too.

@Video Games: Does anyone play Age of Empires? We NEED to play against each other!!!

@Sleep: Just until today I cleared my bed of all the books on it. How much do you guys sleep in general?

@Nashia what did I do to deserve that? x) oh and also, I used to be like that with the religion thing (believing in God but not much else). Then I became a full Christian and here I am :)

Ozzy, Mobius, I see haha

I’d really like to serve after I graduate from college. I’m determined to go to school until I get a PhD, so I’d serve after that. I’d love to be an officer in the Marine Corps. I think it’s one of the greatest, most honorable things I can ever do.

@Leviticus for loving the BBT. And what do you mean a full Christian? What all does that entail? Lastly, that is very much honorable.

@Jhansen I envy you. My break is just ending. And sleep? Yeah, I usually don’t get much of that. During the weekdays he max amount of sleep I usually get is 6 hours. You?

Run, you’re awesome. I really appreciate your post and honestly find it really inspiring, so much so that I saved it in a word document for future reference lol. I really think what my school lacks the most is dedication.
It’s getting kinda late here, but sometime this weekend I’ll need to ask you a few questions.
Congratulations on you and your school’s successes! Hopefully I’ll meet you at state next year!

And as far as how much I sleep, I get about 5/6 hours on average. I have to wake up at 5am everyday, so I get about an hour or two less than most. On weekends I sleep nearly twice as long lol.

@Nashia The BBT is the best :D

Like I go to church regularly, read my Bible, go to Bible study, pray (I always forget to do this/fall asleep so I feel terrible lol), I got baptized etc.

And yeah, I can’t imagine going to my grave without serving my country. I love my country :)

@jhansen I used to play Age of Empires II back in the day, it was the best  sometimes I still pull it out and play a game or two. I usually sleep 5 - 7 hours. I’m lucky if I get more than that, but it’s usually just my fault haha

@Leviticus I see. I’ve been baptized and I pray every night. I just don’t go to church. I have nothing against church or church goers, but I feel that I should prove myself on a daily basis by doing the right thing. I feel that’s the most important part. And I’m not saying that church goers don’t.

I’m loving all of you more and more everyday. Honestly - one of the things I look forward to when I come home from school is seeing what’s up on this thread.

@UIL: Whoever said they were in District 5A in UIL, I will see you at State (hopefully). I’m advancing to regionals for Science (Biology winner) at Baylor, so if that’s anyone’s region… Well, let me know
Also, science teams NEED the dedication of their members… One of the most annoying things I constantly find in my Science Bowl team is that no one on the team seems willing to put forth any real effort. It’s annoying.
But anyway, I wish you all luck at regionals!!
