MITES 2013 Discussion

Yeah, I’m not low income or first gen, so I think my chances are lowered some. Well, neither of my parents graduated college, but my stepdad has been a parent to me since I was four (although, legally, he’s not even my guardian), and he has his masters in Aeronautical Science…

@MobiusUno Do you show any interest in school and a high potential to succeed? If so, that is most likely why.

I’m feeling great after hearing from SSP, and it makes me a bit more confident about MITES. Of course, nothing is set in stone. April 15th can’t come quickly enough.

I knew a parent would pop up sooner or later… Welcome!

Lurkers are parents are appearing more and more often, the rumors about the deadline approaching were true :o. <---- That emoticon does not represent what I put -.-

Haha this has been a long journey guys. Decisions are most likely the next two days. Monday seems to be them being too lazy and too exact.

Good luck everyone tomorrow and Friday!

… and now I’m anxious too.

although I also think it is about time to begin severing myself from this thread.

I am really hoping that decisions come this Friday, April 12th. That would be nice.

Same to you, and everyone else.

If it didn’t register already. NewYork++;

MerelyDetermined, I’d probably open my gmail account in the middle of the day and have a massive heart attack at the sight of it. @_@

@jhansen and run1116 congrats on SSP :D

you guys think decisions will be released tomorrow or Friday? I really hope so.

Making us wait until Monday seems unnecessarily cruel :(

But I guess no matter what happens, we’ll surely know by the 15th.

Thanks Riv.
I think last year decisions came out at midnight on the 10th. It would be nice to finally know.
My daughters brief stats are 31 ACT, 189 PSAT, 1st in class of 166, there arent any type of math or robotics/science teams offered here at all so she doesnt even come close to what a lot of you are involved in but she stays very busy in a lot of clubs, varsity cheerleading, asst coaching, etc. 1st gen, caucasion.

Breaking news: after receiving admission to MITES program at MIT through e-mail, 23 students suffer heart attacks at school.

@MobiusUno. You are not the only one that will have that reaction. I will be in my phone ALL day lol. If it’s on Friday, I check it during AP stats (you know that class I really hate) and get accepted I am walking out XD

We cannot predict. Obviously, Saturday and Sunday are highly unlikely. That leaves Thursday, Friday, and Monday. MITES said most likely on the 15th according to an earlier post by Rivstein, I believe. When I called them, they told me “around the 15th.” However, there is a decent chance that they finished early enough and are willing to give decisions this week. Whatever happens, good luck guys! It’s been great meeting all of you, and even if I don’t get in, I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to meet all of you.

And remember, if you don’t get in, don’t become depressed or very angry, but move on and stay hopeful for the future. I’m sure you will all get into great colleges and will have very successful lives.

run1116 I love how you say that like your already admitted :stuck_out_tongue: (You probably will be anyways)

OzzyArmas, I can check it before school, In AP Physics, AP English, and APUSH. The worst part is that the icon for gmail is almost always there…I’m tempted to look even though I don’t want too…

Well, I am ready to be rejected. Honestly, getting accepted would be the only way to surprise me. According to some MITERS from last year that I talked to, they said I have a good chance to enter MIT but a low chance to enter MITES because of my large exposure to math, engineering and science. After all, its INTRODUCTION to engineering and science.

@MobiusUno: I’m right there with you haha! I would be very surprised if I saw the email pop-up in my Gmail on Friday, but it would still be better than waiting until Monday…

@MobiusUno I’ll be checking at all times. I’ll accept all temptation. I use yahoo though, so I have to go through the web. (My phone doesn’t accept the yahoo app).

Ok, Maximum Over-Panic Mode Active.
