MITES 2017

Haha, these odds are the one thing I try not to think about too much. I’m from western mass. I wonder how location plays into admission or if it even matters.

@lanacademi I went through the MITES 2016 chat and about 1/3 of everyone who posted their results got into MITES (it was like 14/39) so stay optimistic! There are a lot of smart people in this chat and I hope many of us get in!

Besides, there are some of us who could get into E2 or MOSTEC… so stay strong!

@arinuma is right. of the 39 people, about 14 of them got into MITES, and like 10-15 of them got into E2/MOSTEC.

True, true. Plus it’s still far away. I’ve already put in my part with the application. Now all any of us can do is sit back and wait. MITES is my first pick of course but E2 and MOSTEC would send me over the moon as well. And 1/3 is much more comforting than 80/2000.

@lanacademi I agree! If anyone is interested in sharing stats through direct messages, I’d be interested!

@CIRCUITDEBATER I would but my stats are literally not that amazing

All my recommendations have been submitted, so my panicking has finally gone away

As of 11 minutes ago applications are officially done. Good luck to everyone!!!

I’m from Vegas… really hope I get in because there aren’t many research or STEM programs in my state! As a side note, are Filipinos considered minorities? I identify as Asian so I assume I’m not considered underrepresented?

I called the OEOP office today for an estimate on when they we’re gonna release decisions and they told me to follow their new Twitter because they’re gonna announce it or something. You guys should follow them.

Hey guys, the OEOP doesn’t actually have a twitter account. If you want to know more about the programs or deadlines, you can contact the office directly or go to their website for accurate info.

@ebony2014 They do lol.

It’s a fake account. If you call/email the office, they’ll let you know.

@ebony2014 @CIRCUITDEBATER @bouncebackman Yeah, the MIT twitter account replied to us with this: “it is not an official account run by OEOP or MIT. We have requested Twitter to delete the account.” So don’t follow the account.

I have to say though whoever made the account made it look pretty legit.

Wow, @bouncebackman is out here to snoop our real identities. Why would you tell people that OEOP said to follow this Twitter account when even they weren’t aware it existed? :-?

Hey! I applied to the program when it came out I was wondering when your notice of acceptance came out. I’m so nervous.

@Kaylaskye mid april

@Kaylasky Yep, Mid-April. Some MITES alumni also said they got their acceptance notices around April 14-15.

@CIRCUITDEBATER You could probably have gotten away with saying “Pacific Islander”… although we’re always considered Asian for some reason, so it’s up to you.
