<p>Hah! So they actually are planning to use the waitlist! Let’s see… 499 on waitlist, say 99 decline a spot, so that’s 10/400 = 2.5% chance of admittance from waitlist… meh</p>

<p>Yes, but if you want to add that to the overall admit rate, you’ve got to multiply by the probability of getting <em>on</em> the waitlist. So overall, the chance of being admitted goes from 12.3% to 12.4%. lol. (And since I didn’t even get on the waitlist, my chances are 0. At least I tried… and more importantly… I got into Caltech!!!)</p>

<p>Well I’m already on the waitlist, so I have a 2.5% chance of being admitted off it. </p>

<p>But more importantly… <em>Caltech High-Five!</em></p>
