I’m doing a research paper in my Asian Art History class in which I’m reading manga and watching anime that feature creatures from Japanese mythology, and comparing these depictions of these creatures to depictions from older Japanese artworks. This means, of course, that I will need to cite both manga and anime as sources in my paper. I’ve no idea what kind of work a comic book is considered within the MLA format, or how a motion picture is cited. With video, do I need to specify whether I am using dubs or subtitles, since I don’t understand Japanese?

you would cite the same way you cite a book and move/tv show. you can also ask your professor or go to the tutorial lab.

Here’s a resource for creating MLA citations for comics (manga):
