MLB post season thread

IT’s not “interference” as in “award the guy the base” but incompetence. I thought I was pretty clear. He stuffed himself in position next to the base and focused on it without any awareness of how the play was unfolding. When a player can’t make a tag because the umpire’s leg is literally in the way, that is bad umpiring.

I don’t hear any Detroit bias. People hear what they want to believe. If there would be bias, it would be in a St. Louis series because McCarver caught for them for 10 years - including against the Tigers in 1968 and the Sox in 1967. And Joe Buck is Jack Buck’s son and he was the Cardinals’ for almost 50 years.

^ umpire didn’t realize how bad a throw Fielder was going to make…LOL. When is the last time you saw a fielder have to swing all the way around to the right to make a tag? Yes, I agree, ump was too close, but throw was awful. Tigers defense is pathetic…they are nothing more than a beer drinking men’s softball team.(besides Iggy)

Buck and Mccarver are intolerable…bias is obvious. Just listen to Buck’s voice when Tigers score compared to when Sox score. McCarver is a babbling fool, his insight is for newbies only. Time to retire Tim.

Ordinarily you’d think a 7-game series should be just about over when a team is going home leading 3 games to 2. But the Red Sox need to go through Scherzer and Verlander, no small feat. If they can do that, they deserve to advance to the World Series. But I’m feeling pretty good about my Tigers’ chances.

Fox broadcast for real fans has been awful. How many useless Tiger interviews do we have to put up with every game? I mean…please…show the game. How many crowd shots do we have to see sacrificing what the catcher is calling, where he is setting up, pitching starring in for the sign, ect? No, we get shots of the crowd then a switch back where the pitcher has already started his wind up. This is unacceptable.

I’ve heard this a lot today. Sox are up 3-2, not the Tigers. The Sox do not need to go through both, they may have to, but only if they lose game 6. I would much rather be in the Sox position than the Tigers, no matter who is pitching against them. Either one or both may dominate, but how did that work out in their first 2 games pitched, both dominated but the Tigers lost both of those games. It’s a team, and the Sox are much deeper and more balanced.

They’re both in contention for the World Series for a reason… Yeah the Tigers may be down, but anyone who’s relatively knowledgeable about baseball knows how quick things can turn around.

I don’t think it’s safe for either team to say they’ve for sure made it. It can go either way, depending on how the offense stacks against the pitching and how everyone reacts to the pressure.

And the reason everyone might be pro-Tigers is because we’re due for a World Series win and because the city could really use this. Even if I wasn’t from Michigan, I’d be happy if Detroit made it to the World Series because it’s an awfully nice change from the whole bankruptcy tune.

More games in Detroit bring more people downtown to book hotels, eat out, etc. It certainly helps.

Tim McCarver is a know-it-all who never shuts up. He over-analyzes everything. He favors the Tigers, but thinks he’s hiding his views.

Was my tv? Or does Scherzer have some wild looking eyes? That interview last night was odd

Has this thread been taken over by kids?

Cardinals punch their ticket to the World Series!

Scherzer has heterochromia, that is his eyes are two different colors. Kinda of cool.

I know someone whose eyes lost all color. Looked like an android.

Dodgers didn’t play playoff baseball; they never seemed to get to that level of intensity and concentration. I noted in an earlier post that Ethier came in casually on an important ball. In Boston, one criticism of Gonzalez was that he was made for when things go well, but he lacks the intensity necessary when things go bad. That’s probably unfair in this case, but it’s just a board post.

I guess Kershaw is not the second coming of Koufax. I dont remember Koufax ever getting lit up like that once he found his form.

One Cy Young winner down…one to go?

I had a friend in grade school, one brown eye, one blue eye and his last name was Green

“I’ve never been a proponent of driving up the opponent’s pitch count”

-Tim McCarver, baseball genius

There is nothing like being in Boston in October during playoffs ( if Red Sox are in ) Between that and the Head of the Charles Regatta, the numerous parent weekends at the colleges that take place, it is one exciting time
Go Sox !

I totally agree.
:)

Buck and Tim at a funeral now…come on guys, it’s not that bad…lol
