Basically, we respond to the following:
“The ultimate test of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and the moments of convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge and moments of controversy.”

I thought I had a topic, but I realized I can’t write about it.

If you’re applying or if you were, how deep would you go in your response? What are some tips for writing this? Thank you!

ahh dude i’m trying to write the same essay for BU. and its due on wednesday and i have an AP gov test, a spanish test, and an biotech quiz on wednesday, and i’m flipping out!

sorry for that little spaz. i’m very anxious.

anyways i don’t know what to write mine on either. I was gonna write about dependability but that’s kind of lame and shallow? so i’m trying to come up with something better. i don’t know but gotta think of something fast.

^Not to be pessimistic, but they only name 10 winners (and 10 backups) out of around 750 applicants. Not only does your essay need to be extremely moving, but you need to show that you’ve taken a stand for social justice and served your community. I had a good essay topic but ultimately gave up on applying because my credentials in terms of those two qualities are not nearly “top 10 applicant” caliber… plus I have school conflicts like the above poster. Maybe something you guys should consider.

Wow. Thanks for the article, though. Fortunately, I figured out a topic. Unfortunately, I already wrote the essay and have a .01% chance at getting that scholarship.

thanks a lot for the article! as an african american female, with a lot of community service, i’m still going to apply, but not count on anything since my scores aren’t that great.
