For the record…I do not have a perfect figure. I’m a size 6 on the top…and a size 8 on the bottom…and I look horrible in those dirndl style dreses with full skirts…Which makes dress shopping even a bigger challenge…
And NO I do not want a two piece outfit!
There is something wrong with the Lord and Taylor site when links are sent. I have a friend who has sent me several also…and they just do NOT open! Neither did the one just posted.
I posted recently about having picked up my MOB dress and taken it for alterations. Less than a week later, the chain of stores suddenly closed leaving many customers in a terrible bind. I am so thankful that my dress arrived in time and I was able to pick it up when I did. I can’t imagine how panicked I would be right now to not have a dress just a couple weeks before the wedding, not to mention being out all that money that had been pre-paid. There are apparently a lot of brides who are in trouble now. Things seemed kind of strange at the store when I picked up the dress, and one big red flag was that they had a sign on the door saying they could not take credit cards, just checks or cash. I assumed it was because they had technical issues and was a temporary situation, but now it’s clear that they were taking people’s money for dresses but wouldn’t be delivering - if they allowed people to continue to charge, then people could dispute the charges. With cash or a check, they are just out the money. Despicable!
@C3Baker: I knew I had recently read about those stores somewhere besides the papers, but I couldn’t remember where – it was here, and it was you! You are very lucky indeed to have gotten your dress just in the nick of time.
Not a MOB dress, but my sister bought my niece’s Bat Mitzvah party dress at one of those stores and it’s poof, gone, not happening. She is out the money, but had paid with a credit card so her H said he’ll dispute the charge. She found her a replacement dress yesterday at David’s Bridal and was able to take advantage of the distinct they offered all patrons with a receipt from that other store.

mom60, I adore the colors and my best colors are deep turquoise and fuchsia. Sept. 9th is fall
so the usia might be out but oranges and coral work. I think long sleeve for pictures.
Kelsmom- that dress is beautiful. @oregon101 - I don’t see any out now but they make similar tops in velvet. @thumper1 can you wear a sheath dress? I have a similar shape and they don’t work for me. I know you don’t want a full skirt and I get that. What about a fit and flare type dress? They can be sized to fit well on top but aren’t too tight through the hips. Also, does it have to be solid? I understand your color preferences and no sequins or gold.
@deborahb I would prefer a solid. Fit and flare with not a LOT of flare would be fine…but I would probably need a petite size as I’m pretty high waisted. Otherwise…the flare part just hits me in the wrong spot.
I can wear some sheath style dresses. Something with a waist is fine…as long as there isn’t too much fabric in the skirt,
I know…I’m being picky. That’s why I can’t find anything more special than what I already own!
