MOB dresses for both daughters' weddings

I love all your choices.
A good place to check for Adrianna Papell is the Saks and NM outlets. They both have online sites. She tends to make the same or similar dress year to year but changes up the color.

This is my dress for S’s August morning wedding:

Can’t get the link to work well; I purchased the French coral.

So pretty @dentmom4

@soozviet

You have some beautiful choices. With regard to necklines…look at some pictures of yourself that you have with various necklines. That will give you an idea of how these look.

Have fun picking out dresses…my only suggestion…in addition to the foundations, it’s I oortant to at least have the right height heel for your shoes. That can make a huge difference how dresses look.

lovely dentmom4!

Thanks, @thumper1. I definitely will wear heels. I never wear heels over 3 inches, however. I sorta prefer 2.5 inches, but in any case, definitely will be wearing heeled dress shoes and have been saving links depending on which dresses I get. At least I am an easy fit in shoes!! LOL

Congrats and have fun shopping! Am just catching up on your thread. I really like the first and last dresses too (the one you just bought- looks very comfy). Not so wild about the ones with the loser drop waist and then the belt cutting across. That often isn’t a good look or us short people. Have fun with it!

Well rats, now my banner ads are for bras for busty ladies. Kind of funny if you knew me…

Nordstroms credit card comes with $100 alterations per year at the V lowest level. I used the personal shopper for an event in February. She found the perfect dress for the occasion, alterations made it even nicer. I tried a Tadashi and it would have been ok, the personal shopper stated almost everyone needs alterations with Tadashi. She felt they were made that way so that more people could wear them. My dress was less than $70 and alterations were almost $40, but it was perfect and several hundred less than I was prepared to spend. The credit comes as shopping dollars.
Congratulation and I also like the first choice:)

missiepie,
love your dress. It also happens to be very similar to what I wore last year to DS’s wedding http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/eliza-j-lace-faille-dress-regular-petite/3118113?origin=category-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=NAVY It comes in larger sizes too http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/eliza-j-lace-faille-dress-plus-size/3558583?cm_mmc=polyvorecpcdesktop--datafeed--plus_women%3Adresses%3Adress-_-934840&mr%3AreferralID=9fe96602-05bf-11e6-8195-005056947d48
You are right- elizaj fits well-- and has POCKETS - perfect for cellphone to take pics (though I forgot) and tissues

I am still looking for you, sooze, but there are a lot of great options here in the thread.

And too late to correct typo above-- should say lower waist. The belt cuts them off in a funny way, IMO. But I am shortwaisted, so that’s probably why it caught my eye.

jym, I wore your dress (in black) to a black tie event last spring! So I obviously approve!

You have great taste, missiepie!

Sooz, what about this?? http://www.vonmaur.com/Product.aspx?ID=1335039&Sale=n&pg=1

Or this? http://www.vonmaur.com/Product.aspx?ID=1323666&Sale=n&pg=2

Hi @jym626 …First, I have always liked what you wore to your son’s wedding last year and it was perfect for that event. I omitted your dress from my own search because I felt it was YOUR dress!

Thanks for looking around on my behalf. I have never heard of the site you linked to, though heard of that designer. The first dress is interesting and so I saved it. The second is not of interest to me…just not into the dress with jacket idea (feels like it is made to be “mother of the bride” even though I am) and it is also longer than I like.

Since I ordered my first choice only so far, I’ll keep fingers crossed it fits or that I like it on, but don’t want to get ahead of myself on that. I know things can be altered, but not sure if that is possible if something is too tight. Anyway, I’m not stressed about it whatsoever and it is early yet for that wedding (younger daughter).

I actually like the first dress a lot… but I have a question. What about the mother of the groom, is she planning to wear a long gown? In my opinion it isn’t necessary. Are you daughter’s going to be maid of honor for each other? Actually I see that only one is having a bridal party.

I would also recommend that whatever dresses are decided upon and there are several nice choices you take them with you to a lingerie store and have yourself fitted with the dress on. These folks know what they are doing and it really will make a difference. Even better if you have already selected the shoes… I have done that for dresses that I have worn as a guest and I have taken my daughters to do that for party dresses and back in the day for prom dresses.

Thanks, Sooz. You are MORE than welcome to try the dress that missiepie and I have worn. It can be the cc special event dress! That said, I love your #1 choice!
Von Mauer is a department store in my area. The closest to you looks like it is in NY. http://www.vonmaur.com/Stores.aspx I thought of it because I have a friend who works in the bra department!

This is in that style with the thin belt at the waist http://www.vonmaur.com/Product.aspx?ID=1333122&Sale=n&pg=1
