Modern Family - new ABC comedy

Anyone see it? I’m not usually a big sitcom fan but the buzz about this one was particularly positive so I watched it last night, just to see. It was hysterical! The Lion King “circle of life” moment had me laughing out loud – first time I can ever remember doing that while watching TV by myself! And the gag about having to schedule shooting the kid - well, you had to be there. But trust me, it was funny. I don’t know if they can keep up the quality of the writing, but I’m looking forward to next week.

I also watched it and laughed out loud at parts…and agree that the whole scenario around the kid’s gun was quite funny…I loved the little boy and the crush on the 16 yr old girl…I will wear my white shirt… it was quite sweet…

Naturally, I called my parents and asked why I hadn’t a Circle of Life entrance. Their response: “Of course you had, you demanded attention from birth.”

I too had read the hype and tuned in. Guess I have no sense of humor.

I watched it was good not great. I will watch again because it has the potential to be very good if the writers are able to take this show to where it can go.

Not sure what time it was on, but we were all watching GLEE last night. We are absolutely addicted, and the show (at least to everyone I know) is incredible.

I did see most of Modern Family, and thought it was pretty funny, but I’m not interested in adding any shows to my repertoire. I’ve really shifted to watching most of my favorite shows on DVD (buying old seasons) or on my iPhone, and only watching them live when I’m at the gym when reruns are on. I’m usually behind the curve - haven’t gotten into Mad Men yet.

Anybody think “Hung” was any good?

I really enjoyed it too, lots of potential. And since I do not have an iphone or subscribe to cable I really appreciate any good shows they come out with on regular TV! But boy it did have some humdingers, like the line by the younger sister to her mom asking if the older sister got pregnant would the mom pretend the sister had mono for 5 months and then tell everyone the baby was hers? Wow, pretty brave producers…

Finally watched it tonight online. Although there were a few cringe-y moments, it is well written and very funny at times. The Circle of Life scene had me laughing out loud! I’ll definitely watch a few more episodes to see how it develops.

ABC reran this show last night so I watched it and Cougarville. I can see the potential in this show. I laughed at the final basketball scene because, with the exception of the trampoline, it’s similar to what has transpired at my house for the past 8 years or so. DH and DS going one on one in the driveway. Even DS got a laugh out of it. Cougarville–not so funny. We’ll see.

I saw the last half of MF and the beginnin of Cougarville. Ugh, Cougarville, turned it off.

I’ll be watching Modern Family again, but my heart belongs to Arrested Development.

I thought of Arrested Development too when I was watching it. I wish they would make the movie of it (A.D.). But I did find myself laughing at Modern Family, which I rarely do when watching a sitcom.

I just watched it on my computer. I thought is was very, very good. I laughed out loud a few times. I think I might “know” most of those people - they’re my neighbors, friends and family…actually, I think I might “be” one of those people!!! I thought it was funny in a very realistic sort of way. I’ll definitely watch again. (I love Arrested Development too!)

They are making an arrested development movie [Arrested Development (2010)](Arrested Development - IMDb)

I have to agree with hisgrace, watch glee…the dance scene was hysterical.

DH likes modern family, but I am not the over the top kind of humor…the head in the spindles, the bb gun hitting everyone. It just seemed to contrived. I will say, I laughed at the scene where they discuss what time to shoot the son, and then place it on the calendar. The Dad (the one that does the High school musical), is too much, they need to bring his stupidity level up a few notches to make it funnier.

I also agree I won’t be watching Cougar.

I am waiting to see Hank with Kelsey Grammer. I think the Patricia Heaton (in the middle?) will be a huge flop.

Anybody see the forgotten? I like that show!

“The Dad (the one that does the High school musical), is too much, they need to bring his stupidity level up a few notches to make it funnier.”

Wow - I really do think I actually know a couple of parents really, really like him. I didn’t think he was “too much.” I thought he was funny because he was only a very, very, very slight exaggeration of some really ridiculous parents I’ve met. (Honestly, I think all of the characters were kind of like that for me. Then again, I work in a school, so I meet ALOT of “out there” parents!!)

Love it. Also laughed out loud, especially at the Lion King and anything with the gay dads and Al Bundy and his wife. It is too bad it’s on at the same time as glee – so I watch it on hulu. Also for you Lost fans – try Flash Forward. The pilot was excellent.

I watched Modern Family too, being the ultimate Christopher Guest fan I knew it was being filmed single-camera mockumentary style like his films. It has a lot of potential!

As for Flash Forward, I am still on the fence - do I stay with it and get totally confused, or just forget it like I did after the first episode of Lost…interesting concept though, and Joseph Fiennes is nice to look at…

I was disappointed in Modern Family - probably won’t tune back in. Couldn’t get through 5 minutes of Cougarville - Courtney Cox should be ashamed of herself. Flash Forward - nah - I have no patience for shows like that. Reminds me of how I tried to like Lost but hated it.

I’m just thrilled that there is a new season of “Curb Your Enthusiam.” I don’t think there has ever been a show that makes me laugh out loud like that one. I just love how everything circles around and comes back to bite poor Larry.
