<p>It is possible to be both popular and mean to a weird kid. In fact, I don’t think it’s at all uncommon. I know at least one girl that fits that description perfectly. Most kids love her but one unusually shy and quiet girl definitely doesn’t. And, it’s not like there are fist fights, either.</p>
<p>I agree with you there. In fact, popular and mean are pretty common overlaps. Not always–of course!–but really way too common.</p>
<p>“The popular kids” are usually “the cool kids” who are also usually “the mean kids.” They aren’t popular in the sense that large numbers of people actually LIKE them. Large numbers of people are intimidated and frightened by them, and sometimes envy them. </p>
^Absolutely they are. And some teachers are bullies at heart themselves. Some of the worst bullying I ever recieved was from adults.
