Moms are coming!!

I wondered if it was just my impression, so I did a little bit of research on a relative representations of moms and dads on this forum.
You can too find out alarming results by doing the following:

 1. Click on ‘Search’, then ‘Advanced Search’
 2. type in ‘dad’ in ‘User Name’
 3. uncheck ‘Exact name’

under ‘Search Options’
4. select ‘A Month Ago’ in ‘Find Posts from’
5. check ‘Posts’ in ‘Show Results as’
6. select ‘SAT and ACT Tests …’ in ‘Search in Forum(s)’

hit ‘Search Now’!

At the bottom of the screen you’ll see
‘Showing results 1 to 15 of 16’.

After clearing out dadwood (Skeet Daddy, nawlindad, NeedAdvice - not NeeDadVice, and shaqdaddy), we are left with 11 posts from 3 dads.

Now, do the same search again, but substitute ‘mom’ for ‘dad’ in step 2.
‘Showing results 1 to 15 of 96’.
See what I’m sayin’?

I did not check if there are some non-moms there, but the picture is very troubling!

If you ‘Search All Open Forums’ for mom&dad, you’ll find only 2 teams.
And none for dad&mom!

So I thought, all the dads gotta be somewhere, and searched for them in ‘Parent Cafe’.
Sure enough: ‘Showing results 1 to 15 of 500’!

Well, search for moms in the same place gave me ‘Showing results 1 to 15 of 500’ too.

What are the possible explanations?

Whatever they are, the situation is so dire, it might require a moderation team intervention.

SuperDads, where are you?

You’d not know I was a mom from my username. Maybe moms just are more likely to put that title into their username than dads are?

You have my respect for being a dad that would take the time to learn the college strategizing and testing ropes and coming to CC to do some of that. Most of the time, it seems, those details are left up to the moms if the parents get involved at all (except financially).

Further analysis.

Your guess must be right: most dads are probably too shy to advertize their dadhood.

I realized that ‘Showing results 1 to 15 of 500’ came up for both moms’ and dads’ camps simply because the number of results exceeded 500.
When I scaled down to ‘A Week Ago’, there were 141 dads’ posts to 375 moms’ in Parent Cafe.

I decided to check your other theory and went to ‘Financial Aid & Scholarships’.
‘A Month Ago’: 14 posts from dads to 325 posts from moms!
Tells something very interesting about a shift in financial responsibilities in modern family.

Final scan.
‘Search All Open Forums’ from ‘Yesterday’.
73 dads’ posts to 84 moms’.

Any volunteers to locate where exaclty most of the dads are congregating? I am done.

Well, two more things.
If you compare the lists of all the dads and all the moms ever registered (how long does inactive user is kept in CC database?), there are about 1.7 screens full of dads versus 5.6 screens of moms. Fact waiting for an interpretation.

And the last thing - ‘You’d not know I was a mom from my username.’
I am. :D

OK, I am sorry. I AM a dad. It just striked me funny after I read jml’s post and re-read mine that nothing in my post indicated what 'hood I was in. I did not write it this way on purpose.
Well, there was a giveaway. What mom would waste her time on gathering all these senseless statistics?
Anyway, I just could not resist a childish temptation to make-believe.
Dads… :o
