MONEY OWED

I don’t know if this is a stupid question but I have no one to ask so here it goes…I owe money to the school about 2,000 cause I only took 7hrs instead of 12 which is the minimum to receive financial aid…I wanted to know if financial aid pays for the money that I owe?

I think you answered your own question. Financial Aid only applies to full time students, which is 12 hours per semester or more. You took 7, which made you ineligible.

But I was eligible for financial aid for the 2018 fall semester but I can’t register for classes cause I owe the 2,000. I already accepted my awards and everything and you know how the week classes start financial aid money automatically pays for your stuff? Would it pay for the money that I owe?

I don’t believe it will. You will likely need to pay the $2,000. The financial aid is for the fall semester.

Your financial aid for the 2018-2019 school year will not pay your bills for what you owe for the 2017-2018 year.

At some schools…your aid won’t even be disbursed to you until your bills are paid in full or a payment plan is put in place for previous years. And your registration at some places will be cancelled with an outstanding bill.

Contact your college. You knew you had this debt in June, right? Did you work a summer job? Where is that money, and can it be used to pay the debt.

Also, are you able to cover the full costs for this coming academic year? If not…you need to figure this out…or you will be doing the same dance next summer.
