DS age 20, home from school for a couple of weeks now. He hasn’t been feeling good for about a week, not sleeping well, very tired, ran a fever of 102 last Thursday but it only lasted one day, no appetite, then the past three days or so, his urine has been very dark. He went to the doc yesterday; the doc says “your blood test looks good, urine test was fine. You have mono.” Son is taking a May-term class and the doc said it’s fine to go to class, but come home and take a nap afterwards. Since it’s viral, there’s no antibiotic required, just lots of rest and fluids.

But there’s another issue that I think is related to his being somewhat dehydrated and that is, he has experienced some “shrinkage” :o in a certain area. Anybody heard of that? Since his urinalysis came back fine (even though his urine is still rather dark), I think this is probably all fixable with good hydration, but thought I’d query the parents too.

He has not had the awful sore throat that many people with mono experience.
