This one makes me so sad :sob:

The AP story posted on the Boston Globe website had a headline that mentioned she was in “Downtown Abbey”. As sad as the death of Maggie Smith is, that headline brought a smile to my face—my late mother, who died a couple of years ago at age 92, always called the show that, despite numerous efforts to set her straight.

I imagine Mom in heaven, writing that headline!

Kris Kristofferson, didn’t realize he was 88!

I wish that we could have separate threads for celebrity deaths. When the thread starts getting traction you have to open it and get to the bottom to see whether someone new died and who it was. I’ll post this on the community forum.

But, anyway …

Kristofferson wrote the song that most reminds me of my father. He’d pick me up and we’d dance cheek to cheek to Ray Price’s “For the Good Times.”

Wilie Nelson called Kristofferson, a Rhodes scholar, the best songwriter alive, back in the day. Texans everywhere mourn him.

Funny- a while back we discussed the pros and cons of one “losing famous people” thread vs keeping separate threads, and IIRC it was decided to keep them separate for the reasons just mentioned by @Youdon_tsay. Plus it’s sometimes hard to find this thread.

And…. I thought I’d posted that KK post .Then it ended up here, with a different poster. :woman_shrugging:

I thought I was going nuts. I wondered where your post had gone as it didn’t show up here with your name.

I posted in the community issues forum so feel free to express that sentiment there. I added that in death can’t people get their individual flowers instead of being lumped together in a death hodgepodge?

Thank you for confirming that my thread/post existed and then vanished, and reappeared under a different poster’s name!! I’ll look for your other post.

@Youdon_tsay something wonky is going on I don’t see any post by you in any community forum thread,

Huh. This shows as having 45 views so I don’t think it’s hidden. But maybe I don’t get how that forum works.

If we are taking a poll, I prefer the one running thread. I find it super depressing to have multiple “looks who has died” posts. It sort of also feels like people “race” to be the first to post a death - and then there end up being more than one thread for that same death.

I may be in the minority but I thought when we chatted about it awhile back there was fairly good support for one thread…

Just throwing in my two cents!

I’m not moderating this thread, but may I suggest that posts on this thread be related to the recently deceased person.

Discussion on how death threads should be handled are best served on the thread started for precisely that purpose.

Well this will only be meaningful to a small segment here, but this makes me very sad. He was only 58. We used to run into him at the supermarket and my kids were in awe.

As the parent of a Georgetown alum, I’ve long had an affinity for him. Seemed like a great guy.

But we didn’t bother him at the store. Just gawked
