Connie Francis…totally classic. I love her smooth voice and song presentation. She paved the way for many other women in music.
Her singing will live on, thank goodness.

Alan Bergman, who teamed with his wife, Marilyn, to write lyrics for the Academy Award-winning songs “The Way We Were” and “The Windmills of Your Mind” and for some of television’s most memorable theme songs, died on Thursday night at his home in Los Angeles.
Ugh, drowning. Always especially upsets me.
His show parents and older sister all outlived him. I know they are not the real ones - but still. I don’t know about his personal family. Always seemed a decent guy in interviews. Very very sad.
It is being reported that Ozzy Osbourne has passed away.
Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne dies aged 76, his family announces - BBC News
Just heard this on the radio when driving. So sad
Honestly, he’s one of the ones I’m amazed lived so long.
That was July 5.
I swear I also just saw a photo with his family last week - did one of his kids have a special event recently?
His daughter Kelly got engaged .
I was 13 years old and Black Sabbath was the first concert I ever saw. My bf’s older sister had two extra tickets and I was asked to go. I didn’t know any of their music! This one hits me hard ![]()
Being of a different generation, I only know him as Sharon’s husband and Kelly and Jack’s father. Still, RIP.
Im reposting Mike McCready from Pearl Jam’s Facebook statement below. Yes, Ozzy and Black Sabbath were indeed both mesmerizing and terrifying. As a child of the 80s, we all thought Ozzy ruled and our parents were convinced we were being seduced into devil worship. It’s always fascinating to hear how an artists work influences the following generations of musicians. RIP to the Prince of Darkness
I thought this was lovely.
My early-30’s S knows his music. I think it’s less about you being of a different generation than it is about the music you listen (or don’t listen) to. It’s a niche for the millennials and younger … we older folks (for the most part) know him because he was a popular (or notorious, depending on your POV) figure when we were young.
That’ what I thought when Jerry Garcia died and people were shocked. Really? The life of a rock star was pretty hard in the 70’s and 80’s, and Ozzie showed it to us on his show.
Is anyone really shocked by Ozzy’s death? The rumors were that after the Black Sabbath reunion a few weeks ago that Sharon was taking him to Switzerland for an assisted suicide. Who knows if there is any truth to that but we all saw what condition he was in at his last concert . It very much felt like that concert was a goodbye to Ozzy and not just a retirement sendoff. The only rock star death that surprised me somewhat was Bowie because even those fairly close to him didn’t know about the cancer. In general, if rock stars don’t join the 27 club, most of them seem to make it to their 70s and 80s. I mean really who would have thought that Mick and Keith would still be going strong? Lol
It is like you overheard my conversation with my husband today. I was saying how are Mick and Keith still alive with the drugs and abuse their bodies took. Also, how Bowie’s death was the rock star death that hit me the hardest.
