Oh yes, you are right (she says, as she hums Lehrer’s “poisoning pigeons in the park”…)

I would always play The Elements for my chemistry classes, setting it up by telling them a bit about Lehrer. My power point background was a photo of a 1950s science class, all male, white shirts and black ties, slide rules in hand (to show how different the world was back then). The lyrics would pop up on the screen to follow along. YES, I am a nerd.

I had a kid here and there who would memorize the lyrics!

Oh wow. Way too young. And something that should have been caught. Horrible. RIP RYNO

Some types of prostate cancer are very aggressive and treatment resistant. So sad.

Yes - and his came back. He was clear - but had chemo and radiation - so he had a rough go up front. Typically, but not always, you’d have surgery or radiation. He was clearly past - which could happen.

Dave Parker and Sandberg - two heroes from my youth - gone in the last month.

Cancer is so bad, so bad - but Ryno made a huge impact on legions of fans.

Well, either her or Jan Smithers who played Bailey on the same show. It was like Ginger / Mary Ann.

RIP, Loni.

“Houston, we have a problem” That was such a real life drama and triumph. I remember as a teenager being on the edge of my seat watching it unfold.

I believe it was melanoma. She’s a class act - he really put her through the ringer during the divorce.

He sure did. At one point, she was having to pay him over $115K a month for “spousal support” AND $45K a month child support! He must have had one really good lawyer. And for awhile, he refused to vacate their ranch even after the court gave it to her.

She is a good person who probably took the position that her kids’ feelings should take priority over any of her own. I believe she always maintained that he was a good father, so she worked hard to make sure that he was able to be a huge part of their lives. She apparently treated him kindly to the very end.

I wish more divorced parents could love their children more than they hate their exes.

Honestly, we don’t know any of these folks - so can’t say they are good.

Her tv production staff would likely disagree. On the other hand, the lady singing for singles in Vegas, where she took over and the lady then realized who it was - would probably agree.

The thing with celebs - we don’t know then - even though we want to think we do.

I think that is true to a great degree. But when many many people attest to someone being good, it can often (though not always) override the testimony of only a few. I say that as a general statement, not in reference to any one specific individual.
