More celebrity RIPs

I hope the family can keep it but if it helps the family to have money, by selling, they will find plenty of places to be together.

The story is tragic and while I’m not a believer in universal healthcare, maybe it would have helped. It’s almost as if he didn’t have insurance - and it’s all sad.

Obviously his wife needs to mourn and has so much emotional support from friends and financial from friends and strangers and I hope they can get through these next months of adaption to their new life.

He truly seemed a beautiful soul.

Boy, do I have lots of thoughts. I’ll keep them to myself for now.

As usual, I’m confused why people care so much about what others do with their money. People loved James - many, many people. If fans, family and friends want to uplift his family and support them with financial contributions- fantastic! Who am I to judge how he planned for his death, especially when I don’t have the facts.

It is a cautionary tale about why one needs insurance, both health and life - especially when dependent kids are young. Getting insurance after such a devastating diagnosis is impossible. Glad the fans and friends stepped up to help, but counting on goodwill of others is not a wise strategy.

He had health insurance.

The Van Der Beek family finances topic should probably get spun off to its own thread if folks want to discuss… which of course is fine and worthy of discussion but beyond the scope of the “RIP” thread…

If he did, as is rumoured, pursue holistic and non-conventional therapy, health insurance through Sag-Aftra wouldn’t cover.

Duvall was a giant.

I don’t know about this person but perhaps someone does.

Just saw this too. He’d been frail for a while.

The irony of losing Jesse Jackson during Black History Month isn’t lost on me.

“Our father was a servant leader — not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world…"

RIP Mr. Jesse Jackson.

This the first thing I thought when I read that he had died.

Really nice piece on Jackson’s life and legacy this morning on GMA, including a clip of him literally crying at Obama’s inauguration. RIP Jesse Jackson, may his memory be a blessing.

So interesting, I read elsewhere today (NOT a reliable source, use your imagination) that Jackson disliked Obama. RIP Jesse.
