Amongst many other shows, he was the original host of Wheel of Fortune. He attempted to over negotiate his contract renewal and Merv said “Bye bye” and the Pat Sajak era began.

I remember hearing /watching about it on my little tiny tv at college during final exams .

These are the glasses John Lennon was wearing when he was shot to death on this day 1980. They sit in the window overlooking the NYC skyline in his and Yoko’s apartment.

What a haunting photo.

Indeed. I first saw it at a Yoko Ono art exhibit. It was 10 feet x 10 feet. Took a bit to process what was being shown, then it was unshakable.

Sat. They are not on the windowsill today.

Yoko Ono shot this photo and it was the album cover of Season of Glass.

Since that time, they have been displayed in various exhibits, most notably at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

My brother was a Resident working in the ER at Roosevelt hospital when Lennon was brought in.

Yes, my understanding is when not on exhibit they do sit on the table again.

I had, probably for the first time, wandered down to the very large formal living area of my college dorm, and saw that Monday Night Football was playing on the television. I sat down to watch it for a while, and was completely gobsmacked when the MNF crew announced John Lennon’s shooting and death. I could not believe my ears. I remember just sitting there in stunned silence for at least an hour, unable to fully process it.
