More colleges like Rice/Stanford...?

The top things I’m looking for in a college is environment (noted for being friendly, relatively chill, cause that’s the kind of person I feel that I am), weather (because of medical conditions/personal preference), and academic strength in neuroscience and/or cognitive science. Also, I want the school to have at least a decent music program where I can continue my piano studies :)

So the main question is: what other schools have all of the above ^^ and would be a good fit for me and my (sad) stats?*

Schools I’m applying to:
Rice
Stanford
UT Austin (automatic yay)
USC
_______?

Anyway, just a summary of my stats:

 • Senior @ a big Texas school, and a STEM magnet program within the school
 • Asian female.
 • Won’t need (or get) financial aid.

Objective:
-SAT I: 2190 (800M, 680CR, 710W) D:
-ACT: 33 (35E, 33M, 34R, 31S, 31E/W, 8 essay) :‘’'(
-SAT II: 760 Math II, 710 Chem, 710 Bio M
(Standardized testing is apparently not my thing…I would get 2300+/750+ and stuff on practice tests, but when it came to the real thing, idk what happens…I opened my SAT scores today and frowned :frowning: Lol I guess I just feel like I’m not going to go anywhere haha…)
-Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
-Rank: 12/625
-AP: World History(5), CompSci (4), Chinese (5), English Lang (5), Chemistry(5), Calc AB (5)
-Senior Year Course Load: AP USGov, AP Econ, AP Stats, AP English Lit, AP Biology, AP Calculus BC, AP Psych, Humanities, Orchestra
-Major Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction, International/National Guild of Piano Teachers Certification. Nothing big.

Subjective:
-ECs: Piano for 11 years (performing, competing), Worship/Student Leader at my Church, Orchestra (President), Lupus Activist for the Lupus Foundation of America, Mu Alpha Theta (I tutor a lot), NHS
-Volunteer: 100+ hours at hospital
-Summer Activities: Did an internship at Texas Chidren’s Hospital and wrote part of a case report (neuropsychiatric lupus)…Then went on a missions trip in Taiwan…

 • I’m huge in my passion for music/piano, and so at the end of the year, I performed my junior recital where I gave a free copy of my original album for donations (I compose) and raised more than $3300 for the Lupus Foundation of America and my missions trip to Taiwan

Other stuff:
Sooo, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus at 16…[insert sob story], It got super bad when I was visiting the Ivies on spring break cause the cold weather. Junior year sucked ballz cause of that. So that’s why I like California :))

Thank you guys!

I’d suggest the Claremont consortium, Davidson and Emory.

Thanks, which claremont schools specifically?

Since you’re full pay anyway: UCSD, UCSB, Cal Poly SLO, UCI and UCDavis. Privates would be: Chapman University (in Orange County) Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount, Westmont in Santa Barbara.
I wouldn’t recommend UCLA or USC because of smog-related issues, but they do have really good medical facilities in LA county.

Pomona College.

“smog-related issues” these pretty much don’t exist any more.

touche, but there is a bit of a difference in air quality when my family and I drive through there and if the fog is heavy.

ah, thank you.
smog doesn’t affect me much…its mostly bitter cold that triggers my flares :)

Trinity University
