more difficult to get in for so-cal applicants?

I heard that its especially difficult to get in to stanford if ur from southern california....anyone know y that is?

I haven't heard that, but if it's true, I would guess it's due to the large percentage of applicants from that region. The freshman class is 40% in-state, so So-Cal people don't get any boost from geographic diversity and often compete with other applicants from the same high school.

well your applicant pool is probably more competitive than some others because many kids from socal apply to stanford (or from any cal come to think of it). even if the kids are really great from south cali, stanford cant let all of them in. so yeah, it probably is harder.

I doubt it's actually harder. The acceptance from California as a whole is rather low, solely because so many people apply. But many of those who apply are unqualified, to say the least. The point is the percentages are disingenuous; you're not at a disadvantage because you're applying from socal, though the guy apply from wyoming most certainly has an advantage.
