More Honors for USC Faculty

<p>Dr. Simon Tavare, who holds the Kawamoto Chair in Biological Sciences, has been elected to the Royal Society. Professor Tavare is a noted scholar in the field of molecular and computational biology. He has written numerous books and articles on those subjects. Among other honors Dr. Tavare is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.</p>

<p>John Bowlt, Professor of Slavic Languages, was awarded the prestigious Russian Order of Friendship.</p>

<p>Susan Forsburg, Professor of Biological Sciences, has received the 2011 Evans Award from the American Society of Microbiology.</p>

<p>Peter Berton, Professor Emeritus of International Relations, was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the government of Japan.</p>

<p>Karen Kemp, of the Spatial Sciences Institute, was appointed a Fellow of the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science.</p>

<p>The Theodore Hesburg Award for Leadershp Excellence was awarded to Father James Heft, Brooks Professor of Relgion and Director of the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies.</p>

<p>Stephen Lopez, Professor of Psychology, has received the Stanley Sue Award for Distinguished Contributions to Diversity in Clinical Psychology.</p>
