In getting a undergraduate business degree, what is more important, getting a degree from a place that is nationally recognized for their excellence in academics and is okay in the business rankings, or a place that has a very good business school but may not be there in terms of overall prestige. I’m wondering how employers would see each degree.

Prestige, u want the recruiters directly coming on campus.

Won’t the recruiters come to the campuses if the overall business school is good though?

Both!!!

Find and read the thread about what schools are recruited by the Big 4.

So would a business degree from Michigan State be better than one from the College of William and Mary?

not really.

What are you refering too?

I say overall prestige, but it helps if they’re equal of course. Cornell’s AEM is not the highest rated business school in the world. Neither is Georgetown’s, etc. But many companies recruit there because of overall school quality and the quality of the student body in general. They’ll have more of a chance to find someone they’re looking for if the school as a whole is good.

Ohio State may be higher rated in finance than UVa (according to USNEWS), but I think you would agree that UVa is a better choice.
