Hey I recently got a likely letter and I’m wondering… I said i would take the January SAT on my common app but I actually got really sick and ended up not doing it. It didn’t matter since I had already taken the SAT twice. What I’m wondering is since I got a likely letter, if Yale doesn’t receive my January SAT scores, are they going to rescind my likely acceptance? Will they understand if I got ill and simply didn’t do the January SAT?

oh please, come on you already know the answer to that. the adcom is made out of HUMANS.

for you to get the likely letter from yale before you had taken the January SAT, your scores on the previous two SATs must have been impressive…that or you had some other amazing extracurriculars. So dont worry too much.

The easiest answer is to call and ask… Your “likely acceptance” can’t be rescinded since it’s technically not an acceptance, but I’ve gotten the impression that basically the only things that will cause you to be rejected by Yale are failing a course or getting kicked out of school, so choosing not to take the SATs again because of illness shouldn’t matter.

I got my letter this week and I’ve already emailed with three different people, so I can almost guarantee that whomever you talk to will be friendly (and very congratulatory). I don’t think you should worry, but if you are going to worry than you might as well call and ask.

They would not have give you the likely letter if your existing scores weren’t acceptable to them. Relax.

Really? but I personally didn’t think my scores were that great in comparison to some of the people accepted in EA? Maybe i’m being too harsh on myself:S
