Can anyone post their stats here so that I have something to shoot for when I apply to this school? I’d like it if they put it in this format:

GPA:
SAT/ACT (ACT Perferred):
Why do you think you got in?:

Is there plenty of things to do at USC? I ask this because I heard there’s a lot of homie G Gangsters there that want to shoot people, and I’m afraid that this might detract the social life

How good is 'SC for med? I know that its good for law and business, which are my other career choices, but what about medicine?

Is the Staples Center and UCLA Basketball Stadium nearby? The reason I ask this is because I’m a huge UCLA and Lakers Basketball fan, but I like USC for everything else obviously.

I’m an incoming freshman, so I can only answer number 1…

GPA: 4.1 weighted, 3.5 unweighted
SAT/ACT: 2070/33
Why do you think you got in?: National Merit Finalist, awards from & involvement in Future Business Leaders of America, essay about Chinese folk dancing

GPA: 4.1W, 3.7UW after Junior year
SAT/ACT: 2040/33
Why do you think you got in?: I am strong in Math (5 semesters of college math finished already) and I plan to go in Engineering. I’m also a female which makes me a URM in the Engineering program.

For number 2, there are a lot of “homie G gangstas”, but they are around the campus, not in it. From what I saw at orientation, there was tons of stuff to do. You’re also in the middle of LA which is one of the busiest and biggest cities in America.

The Staples Center is just down the street–a long walk. Don’t tell people at USC you are a UCLA fan in anything. Why do you think USC students wear tee shirts that say FUCLA? LOL.

Pauly Pavillion and Westwood are far away. You would need a car. In any case, USC with its new baskeball facility and new coach is on the way up.

yea, there’s plenty to do. Staples center is maybe a little too far to walk or bike but it’s easy to get to. dash metro runs up there I think - I’ll have to ask someone who goes that direction more often than I do.

GPA: 4.58W, 4.0UW after junior year; 4.63W, 4.0UW at the end of first semester senior year
SAT/ACT (ACT Perferred): 2140/no ACT
Why do you think you got in?: GPA; most of the essays; ECs aren’t exactly a long list, but look pretty strong–golf 3 years with MVP one year, self-taught and proficient in guitar, piano, and music theory (showing “self-motivation” i would assume)

for number 4…the Staples Center seems pretty close. UCLA…for shame! jk…UCLA is pretty far

Most people, even gangsters, don’t shoot people for no reason at all. If you don’t go on careless adventures late at night, you’ll probably never see a gang member in your time at USC. That’s not to say that they’re not there, since it’s urban LA, but don’t worry about it. Just the way you asked the question makes it seem like a joke.

GPA- unweighted 3.7-3.8
SAT 1960- low but whatever… i didn’t take the ACT and i regrett it
I think i got in because i’m an art major and my portfolio helped? o_O~ something like that… also i’m in a state that’s in middle of nowhere… XDXD Also my essay i made 7 people check would’ve helped too (about my strong passion about art and animation and whatnot)

“4. Is the Staples Center and UCLA Basketball Stadium nearby? The reason I ask this is because I’m a huge UCLA and Lakers Basketball fan, but I like USC for everything else obviously.”

You probably shouldnt come to USC…we hate Lakers’ fans…

GPA: 4.75 weighted/3.9 unweighted.
SAT: 1930
ACT: 29
I think my gymnastics background helped me a lot, which was the topic I used for my essay. USC is big on sports and being close to an olympic level at something probably impressed them. I am also the first in my family to go to college. My ranking at school was 4/487.

1) [I’m a computer engineering major]
GPA: 3.89 UW
SAT/ACT: 2170/34
Why do you think you got in?: solar car team captain, FBLA national-level award

2) Are there plenty of things to do at USC? Yes

3) How good is 'SC for med? Don’t know, but it’s fairly popular.

GPA: 3.9 UW, 4.6-4.7 W
SAT/ACT: 2330/didn’t take ACT
Why do you think you got in?: Probably my “numbers”…GPA and SAT’s and such

lol USC is in LA, of course there are plenty of things to do.

USC isn’t bad for med (and I’m pre-med). I don’t think many schools are particularly BAD for med unless they are enormous and it’s difficult to get good grades in science classes.

Yes, relatively nearby.
