Bumping this thread. I am going to a wedding in February. I haven’t wore hose in years but all the CC talk of hose is making me think I might want to wear them to the wedding. I also see Bloomingdales is having Friends and family and I can save a bit. I’m interested in what Wolford type to order. They call them tights but are they as thick as tights?can any of the control top styles take the place of Spanx style shape wear?

Naked 8 IMO is the best Wolford for your purpose:

These are not control top, so can be worn with a shaper. I get the “Gobi” color - IMO, it matches my slightly tanned skin well.

After a long winter, my legs needed a little color. I liked that they were toeless so my awesome pedicure could show in my peep-toe sandals. I felt great and the pictures look fantastic, so I was happy.

And No, the nude “tights” are not heavy like tights. They’re sheer and nylon-y, like stockings have always been.

I have a pair of the Wolford and wear them when I need to be fancy. They’re very nice.

I stopped into the Wolford store while at the Outlets today, curious after reading the posts here. What warrants the price? Are they that much better than say Calvin Klein? Wore those when working 20 years ago so perhaps a bad reference point, but my only one. Does a $30+ pair of stockings last longer/run less than a $15 pair?

CT, FWIW, I wear and wash them over and over… They are the unsinkable mollies of leg wear - indestructible. Plus, they feel very silky and don’t snag (the latter probably explains why they are so sturdy). Of course, the higher the denier, the sturdier they are, but even the low denier ones still last a long time compared with Donna Karan and CK.

If I get 5 wears out of a $30 pair, I’m still ahead compared to one wear out of $15 pair (not counting the irritation that comes with discovering a “ladder”, as the British call them).

Thanks BB! Will have to spend more time in the store next time I am back at the Outlets. Of course, first I need to find somewhere to wear a dress during the winter months.

Ordered the Naked 8. I ended up ordering through Nordstrom with price matching. After the Bloomingdales tread I thought twice about buying from them.
