Morehead-Cain Interview

I found out that I am a Morehead-Cain semifninalist and I have an interview on January. What should I expect from the interview?

-I would really appreciate some good answers.

Thanks!!!

…Anyone?

I’m not at all familiar with that scholarship program, but I’ve noticed whenever I go in for scholarship interviews, I get many of the same questions:

[If it’s school specific] What drew you to this school? What would you contribute to it?

What makes you the best choice for this scholarship?

What are your plans for college? Beyond college?

Tell us about a great personal achievement of yours.

And then some more abstract ones:

  1. Who has influenced your life the most?
  2. If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be?
And so on to see what your personality is like (and often to see how well-read you are and all that jazz).

You should post this in the University of North Carolina discussion - there are a couple threads about the Morehead there.

Thanks!

The interview was very informal and they ask questions along those lines, AtomicCafe.

I made a CC account just to post this and let people know that Morehead-Cain finalists do exist that aren’t prodigies, children of high society, or demi-gods. For you future M-C whatever-finalist kids, remember to be yourself during the interviews and don’t get nervous. My interviewers were really really really REALLY polite. Don’t say what you think they want to hear; say what you feel. Be bohemian. Eat your vegetables. Learn a foreign language. Help save the world in your own way. Relax.

I was late for my interview, I let slang slip out during my second one, but I didn’t forget to smile. Always smile and look at them in the eye.

The best advice anybody can give you: stick out like a sore thumb, but with style.

lechugaverde-- that was great advice! :)

i am an OOS semi-finalist. i started another post (linked below). it had some good pointers.
