mortor Board

My daughter was invited to join Mortor Board. Does anyone know if it is worth its $75 fees.

At Penn it was one of the big three Honor Societies. You were chosen based on academics and leadership and it was a big deal to be “Tapped”. The group had some nice get together stuff during senior year and alumni do get together a bit at the annual alumni day some 30 years later. Not sure what it means at other schools.

Oops, sorry- Mortar Board- guess I know why I wasn’t invited.

I am not big on honors requiring some sort of payment but Mortar Board is a big deal and your daughter definitely should agree to be “tapped”. Congrats to her!

Most honor societies have to assess some kind of fee, just to pay for mailings, recognition tokens, etc. Mortar Board and PBK both have to charge something.

But Mortar Board is an old and worthwhile honor, so congrats to you D for being tapped. At our school, we got tapped at around 4 in the morning, and attended the initiation in our pj’s. It was fun.
