what are the most laid back, fun college towns? what are some towns that have been branded with the name “college town” but absolutely suck?

what’s there to do in the best college towns?

Boston, LA and New York City may be undoubtedly the most fun college town but is in no way deemed as ‘laid back’

Boring would be something like Amherst, NY

westwood village (region in west LA)
go to UCLA !

Ann Arbor, MI. Can’t beat it.

Chapel Hill, NC is a great one, and would probably qualify as the best in the country on certain occasions (NCAA tourney time, Halloween, during the UNC-Duke basketball games, etc.)

Nyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

;)

( It won’t capitalize for some odd reason!?)

NYU?! Hahaha give me a break. I’m pretty sure that would qualify as one of the worst college towns… at least as far as campus goes. New York is cool, but not really what I call a traditional/best college town.

Apparently, College Station, TX is boring. I’ve heard the same about Lubbock, TX.

SUNY New Paltz has a artsy, funky college town with a 60’s feel, view of the mountains, LOTS of restaurants, bars, coffee houses with trendy shops alongside a mountain climbing store, tie dye shop, tattoo parlors. Musicians playing in the streets.

Montreal

The nightlife is amazing and the legal drinking age is 18.

If I had to choose, I’d never pick a college in a big city without a campus-like feeling. New York is ok (just ok, housing and parkig are utterly expensive and it has a misplaced European desing, too few malls etc.), but a place like Ithaca sounds very interesting for a college life.

NYC is not a college town, and NYU does not have a campus.

That is, of course, why I’m here. :)

Binghamton, New York HAS to be the worst college town ever…(what college town?)…but we still had a blast (although the drinking age was 18 back in the dark ages)

Boston New york and dc are great college towns

Seattle is pretty bomb

Those are cities, not college towns.

American in DC is amazing!

Ann Arbor, hands down.

Beijing

I hear the smog and police brutality are the bomb

I think NYU is in an excellent college town.
