BOSTON. Or rather, the greater Boston area. You never get bored!!

I’m taking a class at UCR since I’m local. The university’s better than any CCer would let you know but the area is absolutely DULL.

Chapel Hill (UNC) is a great college town and is probably the “quintessential” college experience.

Boone (App State U) is another great one. It’s very laid-back, but there is less to actually do unless you’re in to nature.

Western Raleigh (NC State U) is probably closer to what most college towns actually feel like. It’s kind of crappy, but there is still a good party scene and community feel.

Greenville (East Carolina) looks like a bombed out ghetto surrounded by tobacco and cotton fields. Still, it has a wild party scene and could be considered “fun”

I’ve heard good things about Cullowhee (AKA ‘whee’ home of Western Carolina U), but never been. Asheville (UNC-Asheville) is also a cool town, but not a true college town.

All other college towns, (Elon (Elon U), Greensboro (UNCG, NC A&T), Boiling Sprgs (Gardner-Webb U), etc.) pretty much suck.

The worst I know of is Pembroke, home of UNC-P.

Northampton, Massachusetts is pretty nice. It’s like a smaller version of Ann Arbor without the football.

The best I’ve seen is Boston, hands down.

^Boston is NOT a college town. If there’s a skyscraper, it’s disqualified. I’m talking to you Austin. The best I’ve seen that are actually college towns are Ann Arbor and Madison. I’m sure Chapel Hill and Boulder are great too. State College, you’re in PA so that’s unfortunate.

Eh. I live in a college town. (About six or seven colleges)

It really isn’t that great and there isn’t much to do. I’m ready to go to a nice sized city. =)

But I suppose Charleston would be a nice place to go to college, though that isn’t a college town. I just like Charleston and if you’re a partier, it is the place to be. XD

Boston 10char

Of the one’s I’ve been to…

Madison WI and Bloomington IN = best.

Grand Forks ND, Ames IA, Northfield MN, East Lansing MI = worst

thats what i was thinkin smh lol

austin, texas… thats all i have to say. every other city and argument after and before this is invalid lol keep austin weird

Gainesville of course GO GATORS!!!

Now if I had to pick another. Chapel Hill is hard to beat.

Any one know if philadelphia is a good college town? (more specifically villanova)

There wasn’t much to do in South Bend. And it seemed to be sustained on a Notre Dame based economy.

I wasn’t a fan of Gainesville, but that isn’t a reflection on the University of Florida. Take the above statement and replace “South Bend” with “Gainesville” and “Notre Dame” with “UF,” and that was my impression. Of course, I only visited twice and never lived there, so my impression probably isn’t very valid.

Um, you don’t even go to UC Davis. You go to a community college.

Um, you don’t even go to UC Davis.
I moved to Davis when I was 4, so I have probably lived here longer than you
But soon I’ll be going to UCSD… don’t be jealous that you decided not to go to a better school, please… It’s ugly

I guess I gotta rep, but Auburn, AL is pretty college towny. The city revolves around our college and theirs quite some stuff to do here. If you’re not partying you can take a look at the arts or local music or hike/camp/be all nature-y at the many parks. And we’re not too far from Atlanta and what not.
Other than that, I’d agree with Athens. But that’s all I’ve been to so I can’t really say…

My point was that you really should stop trashing Davis since you’ve only gone to high school there. I live in Chico, and while I obviously don’t particularly like it here, I’m not going to say it’s a crappy college town. If I was going to Chico State, I’m sure I would absolutely adore it here. I’m sorry you can’t see that about Davis and find the need to bash the school/town.

And UCSD is what, 5 ranks higher? Wow, you’re going to go so much farther in life than I am. And you honestly think La Jolla is a better college town…?

New York! Where I’m going to college! No campus, no super structure college system, but a load of colleges in the one city. Plus, the culture, (museums, broadway, fashion, everything) and the party scene definitely make it an amazing place to go to school.

Michigan - Ann Arbor

I love Charlottesville and charleston. Hoping to go to school in one of those towns.
