^^ But as nice as Oxford is, I have to say Cambridge tops it on beauty due to the lovely Backs on the River Cam. I think there is also an element of competition between colleges that doesn’t exist to the same extent at U.S. universities.
Ft Lewis in Durango Co
It is interesting how many of the Architectural Digest “top 50” list in post #195 are said to be modeled on Oxford or Cambridge. I guess those are what architects consider to be the prototypical college architecture.
Incidentally, Cambridge’s main advantage over Oxford is that the river actually flows through the colleges, whereas the Isis is more distant from the college buildings so you don’t have the same vistas.
WashU. Beautiful buildings with immaculately kept grounds. The current east end construction and redevelopment is just going to make it even better.
BTW to the individual who posted Rice. I agree its a beautiful campus and certainly one of the best we visited but we visited WashU prior and definitely preferred Washu. But I can certainly understand Rice being someones favorite
Oxford felt more like a complex of old, crumbling churches than a school. I didn’t like it at all.
Lehigh is awesome… Pennsylvania represent!!
Another vote for Bryn Mawr.

I don’t like Princeton, sorry to say. It’s boring to me . . . . have spent much time there . . . once you get past the idea of “Oh! I’m at Princeton” it gets pretty boring.
Rhodes College, Flagler, W&L
Recently visited Quinnipiac and was quite surprised at how beautiful it is.
I like Notre Dame, but more like ND 28 years ago. A few too many new buildings over time. Still nice.
@ChaosParent23 what did your son not like about Tulane? We did not get to visit, but it was at the top of my son’s list early on. What did you not like about Emory? The construction was out of control when we visited, tried to imagine it with the new Student Center.
Stanford, Flagler, Dickinson and Swarthmore. Swarthmore is also an arboretum and had the most beautiful green spaces of any campus I have ever seen.
@mindatwork. Swarthmore is a nice campus but it was our only college visit last year that rained the entire time! Sons thought it was too small. Also, liked UNC, UVA and Boston College is pretty. Wanted them to visit Vassar but admit is was more for me! I loved college tours.
Notre Dame.
