I’m a student at the Graduate School of Journalism in Berkeley and I’m working on a radio piece addressing the rising cost of living expenses for students here. If you ever had to sleep in a park, in your car, on a friends couch or figured out some other way to get by I’d love to hear your story. Or if you personally know someone who has gone through this, it’d would be great to get in touch with them.
Michigan has a more expensive list price, except for in-state frosh living in the dorms.

In terms of net price after financial aid for students from in-state low income families, Penn State tends to be much more expensive than either Berkeley or Michigan, based on their net price calculators.
If there is such a rise in homelessness amongst students, why do you need to go fishing on College Confidential to find them?
There are no students who can’t afford housing. Those students usually get financial aid, and they also live with multiple people in a room (2-3), so the cost is not that big (300-400 per person). Students also qualify for housing in-campus with food included for basically free (if qualified).
