Most "glamorous" colleges

This isn’t really a serious thread… just for fun. But what would you consider the most “glamorous” colleges in terms of location, social scene, prestige, exclusivity, celebrity alumni, etc.?

Glamorous or Prestigious?

Glamorous = West Coast;
Prestige = East Coast.

Top 25/50 schools only.

As in shiny? The most shiny colleges?

UCLA/USC/UCSB/Pepperdine etc

I think of ‘glamorous’ as a definite female trait.

With this in mind, Mila Kunis attended UCLA, albeit very briefly. However, I consider her more “exotic,” than “glammed up,” although for the AA’s she was definitely the latter.

Jessica Biel wanted to attend UCLA, but I don’t think she got in. After attending Tufts, she still wanted to xfer to UCLA. She never did and dropped out of Tufts. But any UCLA guy would be glad to consider her an alum. (And no commentary meant of Tufts difficulty in admissions vis-a-vis UCLA because some will make large exceptions based on fame. UCLA didn’t in this instance.)

I can’t believe I wasted 3 minutes of my time for this post.

The very first that popped into my mind was UCLA - I guess because I associate it with LA, Hollywood etc…

I always here about celebrities attending Brown too. Why??

I agree with UCLA, USC and Brown. NYU is pretty glamorous too since you’re in NYC and a LOT of celebrities have gone there (I believe the Sprouse twins are starting in the fall :D).

I’ll add Chapman University in for glamorous and prestigious then, recently a Chapman alumna is crowned Miss California. There are quite a few celebrities have their family members there, too.

^ On that basis Oklahoma City University would be even more glamorous (many Miss OK winners and three Miss Americas).

[The American University of Paris | Welcome](http://www.aup.edu/)

The U of Chicago. Hogwarts is glamorous, right?

UCLA wins hands down (not sure if this is a good thing)

Prestigious University, famous professors, beautiful weather, located between Beverly Hils and Bel Air, The Playboy Mansion is a few blocks away, most college apps in the world…I often hear staff say “everyone wants to come to UCLA,” most NCAA Championships, celebrities like Adam Sandler often play basketball with students in the gym, celebs like Shakira take random classes there, the lead singer of Bad Religion teaches there, movies are always being filmed on campus, Britney Spears’ Dr is there, I mean Michael Jackson died @ the UCLA hospital…nuff said! lol

The top two would have to be the already mentioned NYU and UCLA. Easy peasy.

I’m pretty sure the deal with Brown and celebs’ kids has to do with the open curriculum and the assurance that junior won’t have to take any classes that he/she really doesn’t want to take.

But yeah I think NYU and UCLA would be the easy winners, followed by maybe USC. I hesitate to call Brown glamorous since it’s not in a major city. I think the urban Ivies (Harvard, Penn, and Columbia) would crack the top ten.

Harvard - very prestigious, good location, many notable alumni, and a fair social scene

Columbia - prestigious, great location, notable alumni, and a good social scene

Penn - prestigious, good location, many notable alumni, and an awesome social scene

Ditto. UCLA. It also has an edge over USC because of its location within LA–being in Westwood with closer proximity to the glamorous hot spots. The campus is gorgeous and the housing section where students live is practically a resort…even the dining hall food is gourmet!

SDSU party school!!

It may not be Boston or New York City, but Providence is still very urban.

Pepperdine. Hard to beat its ocean view and Malibu.

I’d include Stanford, Berkeley, UCSB and the Claremont Colleges (particularly, Pomona and McKenna) in the list.
