least - AP Lit
most - all teh maths, AP comp sci
Useful means I find it useful, not that I need it to check a box…
Least: Spanish
Most: All math
Most: AP Chem
Least: foreign language
Most useful: pre-calc, AP Calculus AB/BC, Java
Least useful: AP Lit, AP Stats (statistics is of course very useful, but I didn’t like the course much and it skipped too many topics), 12th grade US history (mostly busywork)
Most: French
Least: Trig
Most: Math. Science. English. Comp Sci.
Least: APUSH.
I’m noticing a bit of a pattern here.
People either find math super useful or not at all…interesting. (I’m a math major)
As of Sophomore year:
Most: Economics & Personal Finance (self-explanatory)
Least: Guitar 1 (I already knew how to play)
Most: Honors English 9, as its constant essay/story/poem/etc. writing helped my writing skills fairly dramatically (went from a 61 to a 70 in the writing section of freshman & sophomore PSATs).
Least: Religion (unless you count a nap period/GPA booster as useful, because that’s how I use the class). Having gone to Catholic schools my whole life, ~85% of the content has been review-ish in nature thus far. Also, health class.
Most: Physics, AP Physics C.
Least: Film & Photography. I don’t even know how I ended up there, I swear. Waste of time.
Most: either Gen Chem last year or AP Chem this year. I like how my teachers make us understand why the concepts are happening at the molecular level as opposed to just memorizing them. And it seems as if Gen Chem last year taught me more than just chemistry.
Least: Intro to Business and Marketing freshman year. I hate business. I don’t understand why I took the course. The material was all obvious anyway, and we had too much busywork that didn’t have much to do with business or marketing at all.
As of my sophomore year:
Most: Pre-Calc, Bio, Chem
Least: Health/Phys Ed (why waste a semester when I am a varsity swimmer?) and 9th grade US History (teacher was useless, we just watched ‘The Pacific’ and other movies the whole semester).
Most: My math and science classes.
Least: General Art, a requirement for other art classes. It’s a review of middle school art…
Most: Band (not that I want to do music in the future, it’s just been a constant throughout high school, teaching me discipline and providing a midday break from the “real” classes)
Least: Computer Technology (required, we literally spent 2 months learning to type… It’s high school, if you don’t know how to type, you’re not learning)
Most: Physics (engineering woooOOOooO)
Least: Non-Traditional Art (I hate modern art, love art in general, got a 99 so idk)
As of where I currently am in my high school career:
Most: H. Precalc, H. Alg 2, H. English
Least: Geography (all we learned in this class was… nothing), PE
Most: AP Chem, AP Physics
Least: Health, Gym, 10th grade English
Most: Food & Nutrition (Cooking, basically. I can make myself food now! Apparently I didn’t know how to before…), AP Physics B
Least: Draw & Paint
Most: AP Calculus AB/Philosophy, useful because I really enjoy it and it gives me stuff to think about
Least: idk, Health?
