What school has the most modern campus?
I know a lot of schools have renovated old buildings but what school has the most buildings of contemporary design and architecture?

UC Merced has to be a serious contender. I don’t actually know much about it but there are plenty of Californians on CC who might want to comment.

Oops! Sorry. I saw this posted in the Latest Posts forum but neglected to notice the OP was posting in the Prep School sub-forum.

When I visited Andover and Exeter I thought they both had architecture reflecting the progressive mentality of the schools. The architecture was great…both with all boarding schools there is always the traditional touch in buildings and such, which I think is really nice when combined with modernism :)

The science building at XYZ Academy.

lawrenceville has a nic ebalance of classic and contemporary

Hotchkiss seemed pretty modern inside. I loved Deerfield’s science building.

Cushings even though I dont like it too much. bookless library seems cool.

Peddie looks pretty modern
Am i right?

In the last three years, Berkshire has enjoyed a flurry of construction that has resulted in significant improvements to the physical plant. In 2008 the School completed a full gut renovation of the central academic building, Berkshire Hall, bringing state-of-the-art technology to bright, open and engaging spaces for learning and meeting. The Jackman L. Stewart Center, featuring two sheets of ice and indoor tennis space, in season, as well as a fitness center and athletic training suite, was also completed in 2008, as was the renovation of the Ceramic and Studio Arts rooms. In 2009, the arts department sawfurther improvements with the renovation of the Photography and Digital Arts studios, as well as a new Film Studio, Dance Studio and Music Center in 2010. Allen House, a boys dormitory, also saw a total renovation in time for students arrival in September, and, finally, a new tennis complex featuring twelve new Har-Tru courts was completed late last fall, in time for the 2011 season.

In the next three years, Berkshire will continue to add new spaces that will further augment the Schools ability to support and challenge its students. Construction documents are finalized and a contractor has been selected for a new Math/Science facility, scheduled to be open in 2012. This building will increase space by 129% and greatly augment curricular opportunities. In the shorter term, this spring a new eight-acre solar field will be built across the street which will generate up to forty percent of the schools electricity and serve as a lab for the Sustainability program, and this summer, the first and second floors of Allen will be renovated, including the Kenefick Center for Learning.

We are obviously proud of all of these building projects. They represent a genuine commitment to our students and faculty, and they are the result of an inspired leadership effort at many levels. That being said, Berkshire has always been and will always be about the people. It is the human relationships that make Berkshire special.
