Most outrageous purchase?

This is a splurge I intend to make next year. Been wanting one for awhile.

I would never use a bidet. Ewww. The toilet in the cabin we just purchased has a bidet attachment, and that thing frightens me. The very idea gives me the willies. Tried it once. Never again. It’s coming off as soon as DH finishes a couple of more important chores. I don’t even want to clean around it.

ETA: The Water Willy is now history.

Human variety amazes me. It’s good we tend to like different things though. Could you imagine what life would be like if we all wanted the same thing - tangible item or experience? No competition for any sort of fancy toilet here. As long as it flushes, I’m set.

Based on what I put in toilets, I see no need for luxury

Thus the requirement I have, “as long as it flushes.”

We use outhouses/pits/holes or Mother Nature when we travel sometimes, but for my house, I prefer flushing.

My youngest, “green” lad is looking forward to a tiny house and wants to use a composting toilet in it.

Different strokes for different folks!

@ChoatieMom, hope you’re enjoying the new cabin!
(I tried to send you a PM, but looks like I can’t).
Did you buy it unseen, or did you take a trip to look?

I am constantly looking at real estate online and have been watching for a summer place in Maine for years (waiting for our son to be fully launched and not needing to use our AZ house as home base any longer). When I saw this place, I knew it was the one. We have a realtor in Maine (family friend) who FaceTime’s the places we’re interested in. He checked out this cabin top to bottom, gave a big thumbs up, and then FT’d us through it. So, not exactly sight unseen, but pretty close. We flew in for the closing. When we left the lawyer’s office with the keys, DH and I looked at each other and started laughing — we had no idea how to get to it. Thank heaven for GPS.

As an online purchase, it probably falls under the outrageous category.

My biggest splurge for myself was a Birkin bag. It was a particularly difficult year at work and also one of the biggest paid out in bonus for me. I walked into an Hermes store with D2 and saw the bag. I asked the salesperson if I could take a look at it thinking it was just a display item because there is usually a year or 2 year waiting period for a bag. I asked if the bag was for sale.
At that point D2 started tucking at me and said, “What are you doing?” The salesperson said it just came in and not spoken for. I bought it. The only problem is I have to get another one so I could leave one to both of my girls.

If I were you, i’d buy the blanket. You really want it, and you can’t take the $300++ with you when you go!

Coining a word from the title of another thread, it’s all about ‘Perspective’!
For example, I would not ‘splurge’ $5 on a cup of coffee, because invariably, I won’t like it.
I’m very particular about my coffee, ask anybody who has ever had to sit with me while I send it back! A glass of wine that cost $20 or $30 which I know I’ll enjoy, no problem!

I recently discovered Stubbs and Wooton shoes. Some might call those a ‘splurge’ or an outrageous purchase, I call them Perspective!

During an Iliza Shlesinger show I bought my wife and two girls VIP access after the show for a meet and greet. I think it was around $300-$350 for the 3 of them. Total spur of the moment. We had done one in LV with Piff the Magic Dragon guy a couple years earlier.

I am definitely more into quality than quantity for things. I am too old to be sitting in the cheap seats.

@momo2x2018 : What do you like about Stubbs and Wooton shoes?

@VeryHappy For a start, they are very comfortable. I happen to like flats more than any other type of shoe, and I find the quirky motifs a bit of a talking point (or an ice breaker).
I like the fact the interior is leather lined, and I like the irreverence of some styles. I like that you can customize the shoes i.e. for a bride / new parent etc., and while pricey, they are a great and unique gift.

Once in a while they have a good sale; that is when I really ‘splurge’!
