Most overrated/underrated colleges in the nation

I’m just saying, when I went there I took a 15-person class taught by one of the trustees for the social security system…as a freshman. Number one graduate public policy program in the nation (yes, over all of the ivy league schools), and many of the undergraduate courses in Maxwell were taught by the grad school faculty. The journalism school is top-3 in the country as well.

I am interested in going to The George Washington University in D.C. What are your thoughts?

Marti Carr:

GWU is a solid place with a reputation to back it.

You might want to ask around here:

Thanks for your comments, I really don’t want a cut-throat environment. I want to stay away from the intellectual snobbishness and “head cases” I hear about from some of my friends who go to elite schools. I’d rather be around grounded-nice people who are also very-very smart, but don’t need to exploit it. I also want to stay away from the Greek scene. Seems like GW has a lot to offer outside the campus as well, and is a no-nonsense place to be. No pressure to party, and it’s big enough so not everyone knows your business. Just the right size so it doesn’t feel like your going to high school all over again. Not too big to be just another number.

Exactly. When certain universities cling to their graduate rankings so desperately (you know which ones I mean!), it makes me wonder what else they have to offer.

George Washington is overrated

NYU is very overrated, CAS is widely considered a joke by people in the know.

The single most under rated school in North America is Waterloo. Anybody in tech knows this school, but most Americans don’t. Even Wall Street gets some of its quants from Waterloo. Google it, it truly is Canada’s best kept secret.

I would say McGill (my school), along with BC and NYU are overrated for undergrad.

Rose-Hulman is really Underrated.

Nah UWO :P

wutang, BC is concensus pick by the general public to be the msot overrated school on the world.

Ummm… no…

Brown is.

ummm… yes…

BC is

swimguy is correct; Brown is the most overrated school in the country.

diontechristmas we all know your alma mater

Temple (tier 3)
BU (General Studies)

Are both severely overrated!

Temple should be (Tier 4)
BU (General Studies tier 3) because it is a glorified community college : (

(ouch)

Brownbear will probably be embarrassed by these posts in a few years.

BrownBear is a high school student pretending to be a college student, and by continuing to ■■■■■ this site, makes your school look bad.
