I feel like every college that’s not Yale and UCONN is underrated here in CT, but maybe that’s because I live in an area where a lot of people want to go out-of-state. Trinity and Connecticut College are probably the most underrated, but places like Fairfield and Quinnipiac also have a pretty low profile.

carnegie mellon. people just use it as a backup to mit/stanford/caltech but its up there too

I may be biased since I’m starting here in the fall, but UMBC! I feel it doesn’t get half the amount of respect or attention that UMCP does.

Ah I live like 10/15 minutes from Southlake. Funny.

Anyways, Rice is kinda underrated in Texas–people realize that it’s a school for “smart” people, but it honestly just doesn’t come to mind when thinking of Texas schools, if that makes sense. If you ask an average Texan to list our universities, Rice won’t be one of the first few mentioned: UT, A&M, Tech, and maybe a couple others will be thought of before it. This may have to do with their respective sizes, however, since Rice is much much smaller.

^Also, big rep schools generally garner plenty of attention compared to good, but not big rep, schools, which probably also contributes to what you mentioned.

University College London

I’m really glad that UMBC was here 3 times. I opened this thread JUST to mention them. Glad I’m not the only one!

@TheYankInLondon, one of the schools I might be transferring to got over 90 acceptances for University College London in their class of 2010 (there’s between 100~130 students in that graduating class).

Canterbury University (here in NZ, search it if you must) is actually rated in the top 200 universities arond the world in a lot of rankings. However, most students in my city (we live near the school) don’t want to go there.
