Mother Offers $500 To Help Her Daughter Find A Job

“Linda Smith, 61, is offering $500 to anyone who will take her daughter Lisa’s resume and get her a job … ‘I’ve been standing out on the street corner with a sign, trying to get all the traffic to read it and pass out a resume …’”

Enterprising Mom.

My initial impression was: why isn’t the daughter, instead of the mom, standing on the street corner trying to get a job-- then I thought, wow, that would “look” really bad…

What’s wrong with that?
Many employers offer money to employees to find new employees.

Worse than that, many employers pay big money to recruiting agencies to fill vacant positions but the recruiting agency secretaries usually have no clue how to find good employees.

In theory it might be a good idea, but for most hiring managers, a mom’s involvement to that extent in the job search process would be a huge red flag not to hire this girl, sorry. With her in-home care experience, get her CNA and work in a nursing home or do in-home care for other homebound people. Care centers and in-home care companies are desperate for help.

This girl has no experience as an executive assistant nor has she worked in an office–why would anyone hire her for that type of job??

Very familiar with the area. CNA’s are having difficulty finding steady work at decent pay. Most LVN’s at local hospitals were laid off unless they were in an RN program with graduation within a certain time frame. RN’s with experience or prior relationship to hospital are needed. New grads are not in demand. I know a pharmacy tech who didn’t take LVN position because tech pay $15/hr was higher. MSJC the local cc is just blocks away, perhaps she can explore carrers I Wish them luck. A few yrs back a man from Temecula stood out rain or shine looking for a job after he was laid off. He finally went into business for himself.
