Motion Pictures Program

Is it any good here at UM? I couldn't find any reviews on it.

Good professors?

Expensive?

Is it worth it?

I'm a film major at UM, and the answer to this totally depends on what you're looking to get out of it. Are you interested in production, producing, writing, directing, editing, critical studies?

Production and directing. Maybe writing as well.

The writing program isn't the strongest... There are far better places to study screenwriting...

Production is pretty good. The professors are knowledgeable, there's all the different types of equipment you'll need, and there are plenty of classes offered in different areas of production.

It's no USC film, but the program is good. And you'll also get to double major, which is definitely a nice fall-back to have should you not decide to work in film or the career doesn't work out for you. This isn't true at a lot of other film programs. They are either too intensive to even consider a second major, or they don't really allow it.

I'm happy and positive I made the right choice.
