Just booked hotel rooms for night before move in day for 2 separate schools. She hasn’t been accepted yet (expected though). Too soon?

@memmom2018 it depends on what city…and no liberal, the cancellation policy is.
If it’s Boston…and your kid is moving on on September 1…it’s not too early.
Our other kid was in CA…and I think I booked my hotel three weeks before going.
If the hotel will take the reservation, and you are able to cancel, why not? Especially since it looks like (based on your posts) your D is applying to small town schools with limited hotel options.
Literally the night my oldest was accepted at her EA school, I booked rooms for move in, accepted applicant weekend, and parents weekend. Some of the hotels were already sold out for parents weekend.
As a laugh…when we went to Boston University orientation, we were told to book rooms for graduation before we left town…and no I’m not making that up.
So…it totally depends on where you are talking about. Remember…for move in day, everyone doesn’t spend the night in a hotel.
Not too soon. Most places will have some cancellation policy , so just make note of it.
Places like ND probably already sold out for that time period.
