Movie guilty pleasure

^^^^and lets not forget “double-secret probation”. I put people on DSP all the time.

Yes, Animal House is my #1!

Also like:
Finding Forrester
Shawshank Redemption
The Blind Side

^
You can like those three, but I declare that if A Christmas Story can’t be guilty pleasure, neither can they, especially Shawshank, no pun intended.

three words:

“Zero…point…zero.”

Wasn’t that just a great scene? That’s why I hope she does DWTS someday…

Fireflyscout–Drop Dead Gorgeous is a movie that is just hilarious but never got a lot of credit.

Yes, yes Uncle Buck. How could I have forgotten Uncle Buck?

I too rarely watch movies more than once but Oceans 11 any time or day and I’m there :)

I also love Dirty Dancing, Legally Blond, Hackers and War Games

Napoleon Dynamite I believe is the film Netflix found most difficult to predict whether you would love it or hate it. We loathed it in this house!

Loved it on this house!

Vote for Pedro!

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure: Want a twinkie, Ghenghis Khan?

I absolutely love the movie “White Christmas”!

I’ve also wondered how to predict if someone would love or hate Napoleon Dynamite.

Loved it here–one of our family favs–we own it and have watched it many times. I almost listed it as a guilty pleasure, but thought it was too much of a standard well-liked movie.

Why did I love it? I’ve lived in small towns/rural areas with some extremely eccentric folks, and so much of ND rang true for me. Also, I was pretty much a dork in high school–I’d vote for Pedro, too.

So, if you hated ND, or just didn’t “get” why it was supposed to be funny, tell us why.

Other guilty pleasures: Caddyshack, Borat

I didn’t get ND the first time I watched it. I liked it better the second time, though. I think you have to watch it with the right crowd. My kids LOVED it, though. There are still some lines in the movie that make me laugh, but it’s not my favorite.

One of my favorite quirky movies of late is “Rocket Science”. Love this one. :)

And an older one that I like is “Garden State”.

Reign of Fire
Ratatouille
Master and Commander
Star Trek – The Voyage Home. (“Nu-clee-ar wessels”)
Ocean’s Eleven

Love Camelot, especially with all the gorgeous scenery and songs (tho the story is unbearably sad).

I got it, I just couldn’t stand looking at Napoleon or listening to him. And it had icky voice overs didn’t it? I thought someone might like it, since we are a house full of geeks, but we didn’t.

I have a few, many of them among the ones mentioned above, but my latest is The Lost Boys. Yes, it’s awful. And yet every time I run across it I have to watch.

Not to hijack the thread, or to put down anyone else’s guilty pleasure, but to answer atomom’s question: I HATED Napoleon Dynamite. It was depressing and boring. I don’t think anyone in my house liked it.

I didn’t expect to like Napoleon Dynamite, but I did!

I loved Napolean Dynamite.

Not a movie, but I used to enjoy (still do actually) watching cartoons with the kids - Pinky and the Brain, Pokemon, Dexter’s Laboratory, Spongebob Squarepants, etc. Even a lot of the Toonami stuff.
