Movies your family quotes the most

Mommy Dearest …" No wire coat hangers . Ever " !!!
Elf …." Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color " ( reserved for Christmas only )
Airplane ….1 ) " Billy, do like movies about gladiators ? "
2) " Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue "
Silence of the lambs … " I ate his liver with lava beans and a nice chianti "

Every time I’m in an airport and hear someone on the PA system, I think of “Airplane.”

My daughter was about 9 when she saw Wayne’s World at a friends. I had to explain to her that “Schwing!” was not a nice thing for a little girl to say when she liked something.

She also went thru an Ace Ventura Pet Detective phase at abt 11 but I’ve happily blocked out all those annoying quotes from my memory.

“Houston, we have a problem” (Apollo 13)
“I hate Tuesdays” (The Terminal)
“I’m your density” “Nobody calls me chicken” (Back to the Future)

Not a direct quote, but if we see someone doing something stupid, we say that a cat ran across their keyboard (reference to the credits in Inside Out).

Ohhh I forgot Back to the Future. One of my dad’s favorites to quote lol.

“THAT was not so courteous.” Aragorn in extended version of Fellowship of the Ring. Used when someone says or does something rude.

We don’t quote movies much, but I lately find myself repeating the line from Blazing Saddles when Gene Wilder is describing the townsfolk as simple farmers, people of the land, the common clay of the new west, you know, MORONS. (particularly when I watch the evening news.)

“Just smile and wave, boys, smile and wave” - penguins from Madagascar.

In our house it is:
The Princess Bride and Robin Hood Men in Tights and the girls have lines from lots of movies they use with each other… and of course from The Gilmore Girls if we can include television, but in our house and this dates from having them watch “The Ten Commandments” endlessly getting ready for the Passover seder - “So let it be written, so let it be done”

“I’m older and I have more insurance”…Kathy Bates as Evelyn Couch, Fried Green Tomatoes

O Brother Where Art Thou

“and stay outa the Woolworths!”
“There’s a man in there il pay ya five dollars to sing in a can”
“Great campaign. Midget, broom 'n all.”

Recently we have been using that last line daily.

oh and Norma Desmond has a pile of great lines:

“I’m STILL big. It’s the pictures that got small!”
“Mr. Demille, I’m ready for my close up”

and any number of Mae West lines:

“Beulah, peel me a grape.”

“Life’s like a box of chocolates…” from Forrest Gump

“So let it be written, so let it be done” from Ten Commandments.

“Who does Number 2 work for?” from Auatin Powers.

From The Godfather:
“Leave the gun, take the cannoli.”
“And may their first child be a masculine child.”
“Well, let me tell you something my kraut mick friend…” We are German-Irish (just like Tom Hagen) so this is not as un-PC as it sounds.

I’m not a witch, I’m your wife!

He’s only mostly dead.

Why are you smiling?

I am not left-handed.

So clearly I cannot choose the cup in front of me!

Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

The Princess Bride is chock-full of quotables. If you haven’t seen it, give it a shot. Some of these only make sense if you have seen the movie. Pretty sure all 4 kids could voice act the whole movie without a script.

Almost forgot - “Nobody puts Baby in a corner!”

This is an awesome thread

Another Princess Bride favorite “you fell into one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which is Never get involved in a land war in Asia!”

I’m not a witch, I’m your WIFE!

It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead.

Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.

My personal favorite: Rodents of Unusual Size? I don’t believe they exist. AHHHHHH

I recently found out that Billy Crystal adlibed most of his lines. It makes it all the better.

Imo, Duck Soup has the best quotes and the most quotes of any movie ever made.

“Big Mama its time!”

“Say hello to my little friend…”

“The sky is [not] falling!”

And of course: “Sherbet Lemon!”

Legall Blonde:
The rules of hair care are simple and finite.
Spinal Tap:
Put it up to eleven.
Clueless:
