Movies your family quotes the most

To continue the movies threads in honor of the Oscars tonight, which movies do your family members quote the most when the appropriate situation arises? I am very proud of the snarky humor my two daughters have developed & give much of the credit (blame) to the following movies which we inflicted on them from a young age:

  1. Airplane
  2. Bull Durham
  3. Moonstruck
  4. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
  5. The Princess Bride
  6. My Cousin Vinnny
  7. The Sure Thing
  8. Monty Python & the Holy Grail
  9. Any line ever delivered by Alan Rickman

What are yours?

Don’t call me Shirley.

You can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

Say as little as possible, if that.

Yippie Kai Yay M-F!

I came to Casablanca for the waters.
The waters? What waters? We’re in the desert.
I was misinformed.

Le bai boocow!

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.

Ferris Bueller you’re my hero!

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Dangerous Liaisons: It’s…beyond…your…control.

Well, nobody’s perfect …

We don’t quote this exactly, for obvious reasons, but I think it’s the most paraphrased line: “I don’t know about you, but I intend on writing a strongly worded letter to the White Star Line about all of this.” (Jack to Rose while they’re holding onto the plank after Titanic sinks.)

Every line from the 1980 BBC Faye Weldon TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Also, Trading Places (“Yeah!”)

Mr R and I:
-Princess Bride (I even used PB quotes in our wedding vows)
-Harry Potter
-Anything Monty Python
-Robin Hood Men in Tights
We also randomly burst out into song from musicals.

Dad and I (mom’s not a movie person):
-Rambo
-Star Wars
-Star Trek movies
-Escape from New York (and Escape from LA)
-Detroit Rock City
-Several random B 80s movies like They Live and Warriors

“There’s no crying in baseball!” -Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own…
“Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride” -Bette Davis in All About Eve
“Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn” - Clark Gable in Gone With the Wind
“Adriannnnnn” - Sylvester Stallone in Rocky II
“Run Forrest, Run!” - Jenny in Forrest Gump
“Houston, we have a problem” in Apollo 13
“Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore” Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz

A Few Good Men- “You can’t handle the truth”

oops, forgot to add “demented and sad, but social”.

Princess Bride
Star Wars (original trilogy)
Airplane
Fletch
Ferrris Beuller
Anything Monty Python
Any 80’s movie with John Cusack or Molly Ringwald
The Shining

TV - A-team and MacGyver

Yeah, my kids also have rather strong sarcastic streaks, and make references their peers don’t always get, but they do clean up playing trivia when the topics are 80’s movies, TV, or music!

American Pie…This one time…at band camp.

@InigoMontoya I would’ve never guessed what your number one movie would be :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, if we’re bringing in TV, it’s Gilmore Girls all the way here. There’s a quote for every possible situation!

“You stay classy, San Diego” and “I’m very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany” from Anchorman. DS2 was probably too young to see it when it came out and drove us crazy with Anchorman quotes for a long time. Now he lives in San Diego.

“Inconceivable!!!” (Princess Bride)
"Yippee Ki-Yay… “(Die Hard- we clean this one up obviously)
" There’s only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people’s cultures and the Dutch.” (Austin Powers-youngest son again drove us crazy with quotes from this movie)

“Do you call this clean? Do you?” - Mommie Dearest

“Are my eyes really brown?” - Casablanca

“I am shocked, shocked (fill in the blank)…” - Casablanca

“As you wish” - Princess Bride

Top Gun

But only in a mocking way, of course.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K

Yay @thermom - we say that one all the time & no one outside our immediate family ever knows what we’re talking about!!
