How difficult is it for a student who starts in one program (say College of Computer and Information Sciences) to move into another program in a different college (Engineering) at Northeastern?

Will a Dean’s scholarship follow a student from one College w/in the U. to another w/in the U.?

Anyone here have exp. w/ this at NEU?

Thanks!

I know transferring into CBA has a waitlist and is difficult. Engineering I think is easier, I have never heard any complaints.

Engineering is harder to transfer in because you need to have a LOT of the classes the engineering students took previously or else you won’t be able to finish the program on time.

CBA is mainly just difficult because most of the people trying to transfer internally choose CBA, and CBA can’t possibly take all of them. They said that on average 1/3 of applicants are accepted, but I’m not sure.

Nursing is really really hard to get into because you have to REALLY want to be a nurse, and to be honest, how much can you REALLY want to be a nurse deep down in your soul if you didn’t apply to be there originally?.. You have to prove a bunch of ex-nurses that nursing is your passion.

The pharmacy program doesn’t allow internal transfers.

Computer Science is relatively easy to transfer into, but because often your normal AP credit doesn’t matter towards your classes other than the core, it can be a little difficult to complete a dual. My friend is doing Computer Science and Multimedia Studies and despite having plenty of AP credit, his schedule is still pretty tight, so I imagine someone starting that their second or third year would be kinda difficult.

CAS is easy so long as you talk to the major you want to transfer to.

I found out most of this because I considered switching from CAS to CBA, but decided upon Economics (in CAS) instead.

I actually don’t know about the scholarships, although that’s pretty important…

as neuchimie has said transferring is a bit of a hassle… I was an engineer major, then transfered into College of Arts and Sciences, but am now behind a semester behind. My chemistry does not transfer to my new major, the math transfered as well as my other Humanities elective, but the engineering class only counts for an elective. Essentially the only way I had to stay caught up was to enroll into Summer 1 which I was not about shell out more money for room and board just to take Physics 2.

The scholarships usually transfer but I cannot say for sure in your case. Good luck.
