I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on moving in alone? I am in ROTC and my parents are dropping me off the week before move in week for rotc orientation, so they won’t be there for move in day. My stuff is being stored over orientation week, but I am limited on the number of suitcases and stuff I can have with so I have to buy most things there. Which items would you recommend buying out there or having sent to me later?? Thanks!!

How far away is the school from home? And how many/much “suitcases and stuff” can you have?

Best to start with what you will need for the first ROTC week- clothes, bed linens, pillow, alarm clock, towels, grooming items, first aid kit for blisters, cuts, aches.

You can ship or buy there- extra clothes, jackets, office supplies, desk lamp, wastebasket, collapsible laundry basket, heavy comforter or blanket, iron (for ROTC dress shirts?), CD player & CDs, posters, small fridge, etc. there is a long list of What to Bring to college on CC at the top of this forum- very handy to create your own short list.

Detergent and soap! Everything else can be borrowed. Well, maybe not clothes. = /

I live in Minnesota, going to North Carolina, so quite a ways… I am storing two large suitcases, a tub (like rubbermade), and garment bag. I also get my bag from rotc week.

Fauve, were you in ROTC too?? you just listed most of whats on the checklist haha :P
